Chapter 34: Near Death Experience

Daniel's POV
"Morning dad."
"Morning Kaden, morning Alice. How'd you two sleep?"
"Pretty good, how about you?"
"I slept ok. So what would you like for breakfast?"
"Eggs, bacon and sausages, please and thank you."
"How would you like your eggs?"
"Sunny side up."
"Over hard please."
"Sunny side up for Alice, and over hard for Kaden, sounds like a plan."

Later...
"Hmm, what to do, oh what to do?"
"Why don't you write a couple more books dad? A lot of people are wondering when your next book will be coming out. After all you only wrote two books." Kaden suggests.
"Is everyone really asking for more?"
"Mhmm. See for yourself." Alice replies.
Alice took out her phone, quickly punched in the URL, and once she was done she handed me her phone.

10 minutes later...
"Wow. Looks like a ton of people really want me to release more books, so maybe I should. Except I'm not sure what I'll call them."
"Why not make a series? Kind of like "Harry Potter" and "Twilight"? You could call it Mysterious Magical Adventures." Kaden implies.
"That could work, but what should the first adventure be?"
"Well for the first couple of chapters explain to the reader how these adventures came into fruition, and what each adventure will be like. That way they can get a feel for the story and not wondering when they're going to get an explanation. And just like Harry Potter you could have a trio of friends be the main protagonists, but it's your story you choose what you do with it." Alice explains.
"Why don't you and Kaden help me write this story? Then once it's done we can sit down with Tracy and go through the entire book and fix any mistakes that need adjusting."
"We could try to help you, but we'll probably just get in the way." Kaden states.
"That's crazy talk Kaden. You and Alice won't get in the way, besides if it wasn't for both of you these books we're going to write wouldn't exist. So thanks for the amazing idea."
"You're welcome dad."
"And don't worry both of you will be credited in the books."
"You don't have to do that dad." Alice proclaims.
"You two gave me the idea, so it's only fair that I credit my children. As a matter of fact, I'll be asking my publisher to have put your names instead of mine for author."
"Why?" Kaden wonders.
"Because these books were your idea."
"But this is your passion. All we did was get rid of your writers block." Alice declares.
"I'm still going to give both of you credit for the books, and all of the money I make from this series will be going to both of your college/university funds."
"Don't you already have enough saved up for us? Don't you have like $20,000?" Kaden queries.
"That may be Kaden, but supplies for a secondary education is pretty expensive, so I want both of you to have more than enough money to get by. Just don't spend it all in one place."
"We're not going to go into 7-Eleven and grab every single type of candy they have in stock, we're not evil."
"I know Alice."
"After all we have one of the best dads ever." Kaden announces.
"Even though I missed out on a lot of your life."
"Actually I'm pretty sure you were there for us our entire life."
"I see what you're doing Kaden, and I really appreciate it."
"Well, you're very welcome dad."

A few months later...
"So all we have to do is submit it, right dad?"
"That's right Kaden."
"Should we come with you?"

A: Yes                                                       B: No

"Sorry Kaden, but I think that it would be safer if you and Alice stayed home this time, but I'll be home before you know it. And when I get home we'll play some video games, ok?"
"Can we please come with you dad?"
"I'm sorry Alice, but my mind is made up. You and Kaden will have to wait here at home. But I promise that I'll be home as soon as possible."
"Just promise us one thing...be safe. We want you to come back home to us."
"If you need to talk to me, just call me. My car has Bluetooth so I won't have to pick up my phone."
"How long do you think you'll be?"
"I'm not sure Kaden. If I had to guess maybe a couple of hours, but I'll call you later if something changes, ok?"
"Ok."
"I'll be back before you know it."
