Part 4: First time back to Litchfield

Lorna woke up to Vinnie kissing her on the head before leaving for work the way he does every day, it was always so repetitive, thats one thing she misses about prison with so many women under one roof there was always something going on, unlike now Lorna would wake up eat breakfast, shower, get dressed, do her hair and makeup , wake Carmine up, feed him, get him dressed, put something on for him to watch, clean, take him for a walk, make lunch, more cleaning then Vinnie gets home, they make tea watch tv and go to sleep. it was the same every day. Before leaving Lorna looked at herself in the mirror she had on a low cut red lace dress that came to her mid thigh with black heeled boots. she wore the necklace nicky gave her before she was taken to MAX that she wears every day. her hair was down to her chest in waves and she had on some foundation, concealer, eyeliner, mascara and her famous red lipstick that she wore every day.

before picking up Carmine to leave she wrote down her new number to give to Nicky when she saw her. she picked up her son and grabbed his bag waiting by the door for Piper to message her to tell her she was here. when she received the text she went down to Pipers car and drove the short 5 minute drive to Polly and Larrys where they dropped off Carmine who had fallen asleep in the car before continuing the journey to Litchfield.

'are you nervous?'

''what?''

'to see Nicky, are you nervous to see Nicky?'

''I'm not nervous to see her, more about how she's gonna react seeing me after 4 months when she thinks I've ignored her''

'it'll be fine' the rest of the drive was in silence.

they arrived at Litchfield and Mr Caputo was outside waiting to take them through due to them having to walk through the actual prison itself.

'Chapman, Morello. I'll take you through, most people are at work so you shouldn't see anyone if you do, don't talk to them just keep walking we don't usually allow this. Got it?'

''yes Mr Caputo'' they responded sinking back into the ways of prison as if they had never left.

they followed Mr Caputo through the prison hearing whispering from the few inmates on the corridors that Lorna recognised but had never actually spoken to. She instantly recognised every corridor. Lornas throat started to close up as they walked towards where the cafeteria is, where half the family will be. they turned the corner and could hear Red and Alex sat talking across one of the tables, Lorna did her best to not look, if she can't see them, they can't see her. but it was too late when she heard Alex shout.

'Pipes!' Lorna looked over to Piper who instantly looked up at the sound of her wife's voice and saw Red and Alex walking over to them however following Mr Caputos instruction they continued to walk, Alex ran and caught up walking next to Piper.

'Oh hey Morello, how ya doin?'

''alright, I musta given ya the wrong number, thats why you couldn't get in touch, I'm sorry. is Red mad at me?''

'No she's not' it wasn't Alex who replied but the Russian herself.

'hello Lorna'

'hey Red, its good to see you, you look well'

'thank you, you look beautiful'

''Vause, Reznikov get back to work.'' Caputo said continuing to walk down the corridors. Alex kissed Piper on the cheek whilst Red patted her on the shoulder before they both turned to walk back towards the cafeteria.

they arrived at medical and Lorna stood in the doorway not sure if to go in or not.

'Do you want me to go in first, I won't tell her you're here' Piper asked putting her hand sympathetically on Lornas shoulder. She thought for a second before nodding at Piper to go in to which she gave Lorna a small smile before heading into Nickys room. Mr Caputo turned to her.

'I'm going to my office you know where to sign out, I'll be back in an hour if you haven't signed out already, please don't go wandering around'

''we won't''

'good'

Piper had been with Nicky for 10 minutes before Red and Alex came round the corner.

'I'm guessing she doesn't know your here' Alex said looking at Lorna with her arms crossed and a smirk on her face.

''what if she doesn't want to see me? she probably hates me''

'she couldn't hate you if she wanted to, Alex go get Piper' Alex nodded and entered the room Piper went into 10 minutes prior. Piper and Alex emerged from the room and looked at Lorna. 

'she's in a decent mood so It could go either way' Alex said pushing Lorna towards the door. she took a deep breath moving the curtains apart to see Nicky laying on her side with her back to the door reading a book.

''hey Nicky'' hearing the voice of the woman she loves and never thought she would see again Nicky turned over and sat up it caused a sharp pain shoot through her stomach.

'Lorna' she got up off the bed took a few steps before stopping, there was still at least 3 metres between the two where they stood staring at each other. after what felt like hours Lorna ran pulling Nicky into a tight embrace tears falling from her eyes that she never felt. Nicky wrapped her arms round Lorna's waste pulling the brunette closer. when they pulled apart Nicky went to lay back on the hospital bed tapping the space next to her to which Lorna nodded and laid next to her draping her arm over Nicky's stomach with Nicky's arm around her shoulders. they laid in silence as they had many times before in each others bunks.

'you look hot' Only Nicky Nichols, Lorna thought.

''its not funny Nichols you coulda died''

'that's the whole point of overdosing'

''why would you do that? What about Alex and Red? And me?''

'Reds better off without me I'm a fuck up alright? Alex has Piper she'll get over it and I couldn't get in touch with you for 4 months Lorna'

''I gave Red the wrong number Hon I'm sorry. I brought the right one with me. Lorna put her hand into her bra where she had placed the little slip of paper, something she did a lot since prison. she passed the piece of paper to Nicky who took and placed it on the table next to her.

'Even if you gave her the wrong number you still could have come to visit, Piper comes every single time' Lorna looked down in shame.

''It's just it brings up so many bad memories. When you didn't ring I assumed you didn't want to see me. do you have the note that I gave you with Vinnie's number on'' Nicky nodded pulling the note from her bra as lorna did the same with the number she copied from her phone. Nicky handed Lorna the note who compared it to the one she gave to Red.

'he didn't tell me' Lorna looked down at the idea of Vinnie keeping something so important from her.

'I'm sure there was a reason he didn't tell ya kid'

''why didn't you tell me you rang him'' any time Nicky and Lorna talked about Vinnie Nicky would get tense and uncomfortable.

'Listen, baby, I love you so much. You're the first person I've loved like this which is why I called him because your happiness is more important to me. Red always said to me love is about sacrifice'

''your happiness makes me happy-''

'stop Lorna don't do that, you will never love me the way I love you' Lorna had stood up needing to put space between the them.

''you don't know that''

'yes I fucking do you've made it pretty clear multiple times. is that my necklace? You still wear it?'

''it reminds me of you'' Lorna looked at Nicky with tears in her eyes holding the necklace tightly.

'I want you to leave' Nicky said turning away from Lorna.

''What? can't we just talk I won't mention Vinnie I promise'' the tears were falling now. Nicky didn't respond just huffed like a teenager.

''bye Nicky. ring me if you wanna talk''
