Chapter 3
I walked into my bedroom to find my mom surrounded by 3 suitcases. All my dresser drawers were empty. "Mom." She looked up at me. Her face was a red as a red stoplight and her eyes we're damaged from crying. She stood up. I gave her a tight hug. "Thanks for packing for me mom."
"Anything for my baby girl." she said. She was shaking. I heard it in her voice and felt her body move. "Just remember I love you."
"I love you, too mom." I let go of my mom and she walked out the bedroom door. Officer Fox stood in the doorway after my mom left to go in the kitchen. "Officer Fox?"
Her green eyes met my blue ones. "Yes?"
"Where am I staying tonight?"
"Well, you need to ask the detective that." I nodded my head. I closed the two packed suitcases and put my hair straightener, games, jewelry, and toiletries in the empty third one. I zipped it up and took it them to the front door and put my backpack next to them.
"I have to use the restroom, then we can go." I told Officer Fox. She nodded.
About a minute later, I was back to the front door. The detective was talking to my mom out in the backyard. So, I walked up the sliding glass door and knocked to get their attention. He opened the door and they both walked inside the house. "Where am I staying tonight?" I asked the detective.
"A motel. We will talk about in the car." I nodded. "You ready?" he asked. I nodded. He walked to the front door and Officer Fox and the detective took my suitcases out to the car.
I hugged my mom one last time. "I love you." she said.
"I love you, too." I replied. "Can I take a picture of the two of us?" She nodded and wiped the tears from her stained cheeks. She put her arm around my neck and we both smiled like nothing was wrong. Sure, a picture was worth a thousand words, sometime true, sometimes not true. But if somone looked happy in the picture, it wouldnt mean they we're happy. I hit the button and heard a shutter sound. I kissed her cheek. "Thanks, mom. I'll call you when I am at dad's." she nodded. I started for the front door. I walked out the door and waved at my mom. When I shut the door, I saw her through the front window. She fell to her knees, put her head into her hands, and curled up in a ball in the middle of the floor. Again, I kissed my hand and placed it on the window and whispered, "I love you mom." and with that, we drove off.
I took my phone and headphones out of my pocket, plugged them into my phone, put them in, and blasted One Direction through the buds. I put my hood of my jacket up and over my eyes, and fell sound asleep. My last thought was, "Kaylin."
Officer Fox woke me up when we showed up at Super 8 Motel. Officer Fox, the detective, and I walked into the lobby. The detective stood at the front desk and waited for assistance. A lady with short brown hair and brown eyes shows up and asks for the name of the reservation. "White." he said, flatly. She handed him the room key and we walked to my room.
When he opened the door, I went inside and sat on the bed. Officer Fox put my luggage next to the bed. "What time do I get up I. the morning?" I asked, it didn't matter who answered.
The detective decided to answer. "The plane leaves at 10.30. It takes about an hour to get through all the security stuff, half hour to get there, so about 7.30 if you wanted to take a shower and eat." I nodded.
I looked at my cell phone. Half a battery and 3.00 pm is all I saw. I dug my cell phone charger out and plugged it in the wall then my phone. I dialed Kaylin's number.
'Hello?' she answered.
"Hey." I replied.
'What's up?!'
"Not much. I'm staying at the Super 8 Motel. Can you come see me?"
'Sure. It is your last day in California for a while...'
"Thanks...Text me when you get here."
'Oki doki.' and she hung up.
I layed on the bed with my eyes wide open. A million thoughts traveled through my brain in a second. 'What just happened today?' I thought, blankly.
I turned the tv on and turned it to ABC Family where they were playing Mean Girls. About 10 minutes later, I got a text.
From: Kaylin
Hey, I'm here.
I grabbed a room key and shoved it in my back pocket. I walked out the door, closing it with a click. I walked out into the lobby and saw Kaylin standing there in the middle of the room; waiting for me. I walked up to her and hugged her. "Can we hangout in my room?" I asked.
Kaylin nodded. I had about 5 bucks in my pocket so we stopped at a vending machine and got a couple sodas, a big box of M&Ms, and a bag of gummy bears. We walked back into my room and I threw myself on my bed. Kaylin followed me in. She noticed the movie playing.
She jumped in the air, throwing the stuff in the air with her shouting, "MEAN GIRLS! WOOHOO!" I sat on the bed and laughed at her.
"I'm gunna totes miss that, KayKay."
She turned to me and smiled. "I'm gunna miss how you always text me or call me non-stop."
"Girl. You really think that's gunna change? YOU'RE A VAMPIRE. I'll call you when its 9 my time, but 3 yours. Our friendship won't be any different."
She smiled at me and layed on the bed next to me. She tapped her can and opened the red can of Coke. I forgot to tap the top of mine and when I opened it, it had a minor explosion. "Oh. M. Gee. MooMoo."
I giggled. "What?!"
"Youre. A. Plain. Weirdo." She said, slowly.
