Chapter Seven: Mission Gone Wrong

"Hendery, have you found new information about them?"

The following day eventually arrived and the Elites seemed to be busier than before, mostly Lucas' team. Every member had been working hard since last night about trying to find information about the infamous group called X-Force.

Who wouldn't be when you were already given the opportunity to take the mission everyone was eager to get their hands on? Add to that, it was also a way to be promoted if they accomplished it.

That was everyone's mindset aside from Koeun.

"Aside from where the last sighting of their van was seen, no." Hendery replied to Lucas' question, not bothering to throw a glance at his way as he typed away on the computer's keyboard.

"That's alright. We'll find another way." Lucas patted his back twice before walking away to move towards Xiaojun.

Koeun was silently observing everyone as she prepared herself, gearing up. She watched how the screen's light reflected at Hendery's eyes, how Lucas and Xiaojun talked about something related to their mission, how Hina practiced fighting, and how Yangyang practiced holding and aiming an empty pistol. She could see how determined her teammates were for their mission.

This first mission gave them life.

As far as she knew, everyone had different reasons that made them determined enough to catch the X-Force, but all of them wanted the same thing.

Revenge.

Revenge for being fooled. Revenge for being attacked. Revenge for being stopped in catching them. Revenge for the condition she ended up in.

Koeun was the one affected the most by the infamous group but her teammates seemed to act more like it. She, too, wanted to avenge herself from being shot, but for some reason, she also felt something greater that excluded her from the others.

"Koeun," She didn't notice Lucas was already in front of her. "are you done?"

Meeting his eyes, Koeun nodded. "Yes." She finished putting her black tactical gloves on, stretching her fingers in them.

"Then, let's go." As soon as he said it, Lucas began walking to leave, with everyone quickly catching up to follow him.

Koeun didn't only want revenge. She wanted to catch them because of the mystery that was lingering around the group.

She wanted to be the one to gain that crucial information about them. She wanted to be the one to be able to catch all of them, especially the seventh member their chief and Taeyong revealed to them yesterday.

"This guy is known to be very dangerous. I advise you not to let your guard down and to trust his convincing lies."

Koeun already considered him as her greatest enemy.

"His name is Mark Lee, and he's the biggest threat to us all."

She couldn't forget his name since then.

Mark Lee.

It only had been half an hour since Lucas' team headed out towards the sight where the get-away van was last seen.

Apparently, according to some witnesses, the said van was left behind in a parking lot two nights ago— the same night of the attack. Lucas decided to investigate it in hopes of finding clues or information that would lead them to the X-Force.
