"Is everyone already there?" Koeun asked Lucas as the elevator they were currently in proceeded to go up.
After what happened, Lucas brought Koeun back to her apartment once her condition was good enough for her to be discharged. Throughout the ride, even when she prepared herself to rest, she couldn't stop thinking about what she had gone through.
It was her first time being so scared to death when that nameless guy shot her leg.
The next day, Lucas went to Koeun's place to pick her up. He explained why and it was because Chief Jung, the department's head, eventually heard about the surprise attack that occured yesterday in the building and called them for a meeting— a meeting only between a few people that were needed to be involved in it.
Lucas' team was a part of it.
"Yes." Lucas replied. "They already arrived earlier than us."
Koeun nodded once at this, suddenly becoming a little nervous. "That's... relieving." Then she let out a shaky breath.
She didn't know what to do once she met them face-to-face, especially with Chief Jung. They would only see him a couple of times a week since he was mostly away for work. He was known to be quite an intimidating person.
Lucas, who was standing beside her, noticed this and spoke about it. "You seemed nervous. Are you okay?"
Koeun glanced up to meet his eyes and assured him. "I'm okay. I can deal with it." Can I, really?
"There's no reason for you to be nervous." He told her. "It's just a small meeting."
"I know. You already told me that." Koeun let out another sigh after this. "It's just..." She closed her lips shut, couldn't find herself to continue her sentence.
"It's just what?"
Koeun hesitated for a moment, contemplating whether to continue it or not. In the end, she still spoke about it. "What if they get disappointed on how I acted yesterday? What if they remove me as an agent? I acted hastily without asking for the team to support me and let the enemies get away. Will they even let this go?"
She was really worried about how the chief and the others would react. She thought it was unprofessional of her to act without thoroughly planning it.
"I hate to break it up to you but you're not fit to be an agent if you're reckless."
"I don't want to lose my job as an agent. I worked hard for this."
Lucas, on the other hand, looked rather calm and collected as he listened to her short rant. He saw how anxious she was through her eyes. He decided to give her comfort. "I assure you, that won't happen."
Koeun gave him a confused look. "Why do you say so?"
"They won't let someone intelligent that was enough to crack the enemy's plan go to waste." Was his response with a small smile before the door opened for them. Lucas was the first to step out, with Koeun following close, gazing at him with awe.
His words gave her enough hope for that moment.
I should listen to him rather than that guy who doesn't even know who I am.
Just as Lucas and she stepped out of the elevator, Koeun, somehow, bumped shoulders with a police officer who was about to enter the same elevator. It wasn't that hard but it was enough to make her bothered about it.
