It was another regular day for her, but for some reason, she found it exciting.
She woke up by the sound of her alarm and quickly turned it off, rising from her bed. Feeling cheery, the 20-year-old girl took a bath and changed into her usual working clothes. She tied her chocolate brown locks into her iconic ponytail and didn't bother making breakfast before leaving her apartment since she wasn't in the mood.
She was in the mood for coffee, though.
The girl arrived at her favorite cafe just a few blocks away from her apartment building, with the door making a small ding when she opened it. With her brown orbs scanning the inside of the cafe— which had already been filled with the regulars of the place— she took a deep breath and exhaled it with a satisfied smile on her face.
Koeun had always loved the aroma of freshly-baked desserts and newly-brewed coffee.
She didn't stay at her spot for long and began moving her feet towards the counter, eventually being greeted by the lady behind it. "Oh, there you are, Koeun!" The 58-year-old lady exclaimed with a smile once she saw her. "Good morning, dear."
"You too, Granny." Koeun returned, stopping at the counter.
"The same order?" The lady raised an eyebrow, writing on her pad with a pen.
"You know me so well." The two exchanged giggles before someone else joined Koeun's side. She didn't bother looking directly at him as she waited for her order, although she could tell it was a guy.
"What about you, handsome lad?" Granny moved on to ask the guy.
The guy let out a small laugh at this before speaking. "A cup of venti iced americano, no water, with 4 extra espresso shots, please."
This made Koeun frown and took a peek at the boy. Is he insane? She exclaimed to herself, surprised by his unusual preference for coffee. At the same time, she was baffled when she noticed his looks.
Even though she was only looking at his side profile, she couldn't find herself to disagree with Granny. Standing tall beside her, the guy had his chocolate brown hair styled in a messy soft side part, exposing his prominent forehead. His cheekbones were high and his jawline was evidently sharp. His lips formed a cheeky smile from the compliment he had received.
No doubt, he was surely good-looking.
Granny gave him a look when she heard his order, nonetheless nodded once. "Alright..." She wrote it down and walked towards the coffee maker to proceed with making Koeun's coffee.
Koeun had averted her look by this time, not wanting him to notice what she just did. She didn't want him to think of it in the wrong way.
On the other hand, although his attention wasn't on her, the boy managed to catch the timing of her head whipping away. He was confused at first but didn't bother thinking too much about it.
He thought she was just shocked about his unique choice of coffee.
"Heading to your work, Koeun?" Granny asked her after some time.
Koeun suddenly became a little uneasy by the question. "I, uh, yes." She answered.
She had known Granny for years but the poor lady never knew what her real job was. No one was allowed to know as it was confidential.
Granny made it back to face Koeun, giving her the coffee and a small box. It was a box filled with their famous chocolate chips. "Tell the kids I gave them this."
