A/N: so I've been thinking about the 2002 unmade godzilla film. That Many of us know to be Godzilla vs Gamera. And Considering the wanted for something like this, it's no surprises that a lot of G-Fans were pissed when they found out about this since it felt like a huge miss opportunity.
(The edit was done by me).
Now many of us know the story of why it didn't happen: In 2002, Kadokawa approached Toho and offered to co-produce a Godzilla and Gamera crossover film. Toho, however, declined the offer. Afterwards, Toho produced the remaining films of the Millennium series, while Kadokawa went on to produce Gamera the Brave four years later in 2006 to celebrate Gamera's 40th anniversary.
But, what I've also heard was that Kadokawa insisted that Gamera win, which TOHO disagreed with and it caused the film to be scrapped entirely and made them decline on doing the film with them.
However, what if this film managed to become a reality?
Well, lets first change some things around,
TOHO and Kadokawa sat down and managed to convince each other to have the film end with a tie between the two kaiju. The story of the film could either have godzilla taking up another antagonistic role and gamera would have to come to defend. Or it could be something different like a battle between Gamera and a Gyaos swarm lead to Gamera being in the same area with Godzilla, where Godzilla would possibly see Gamera as possible attacker and lead to massive misunderstanding between the two kaiju, leading in a humongous battle.
Now unfortunately, since this film would have been done in 2002, we would not get the kiryu saga, but, I'll still use the KiryuGoji design as a speculation to what Godzilla might have looked like in the film.
But how would the rest of the Godzilla Franchise be affected by this film if it were not only made, but also managed to become a massive success?
