A/N: this is a quick response to D man's current trailer break down.
In a segment of it, He seems to down play LegendaryGoji's durability.
See, he brings up the whole thing about Godzilla having a bulding dropping on him and needed help during his battle with the Mutos. He's not wrong about the muto thing, if the nest wasn't blown up to distract the female muto, she and the male could have killed him.
However, he didn't bring up everything about The building falling on LegendaryGoji. I need to point out the things that happened to Godzilla as he was in San Francisco, leading up to that point.
*He was fired at by the military and shot in the gills (his weak spot) which made him burst through the golden gate bridge.
*Fought the Male Muto from morning to night time.
*Eventually took on the Female Muto and almost had her until the Male stepped in and turned the tide of the battle for the two where they proceeded to gang up on Godzilla and attack his gills and stomp on him while he was down.
(Hence why his Atomic Breath wasn't at full power before).
*Sometime after finally managing to get back on his feet after the nest blew up to distract the muto so he could blast the female muto with his weakened atomic breath, he still had the male to deal with, who was making it difficult for godzilla to hit and he only managed to get a lucky shot in by bashing the female muto into the building.
And after all that, Godzilla had to stop to take a breather from all that went on before the building finally fell on him. He was already weakened and exhausted at that point.
I also need to bring up some stuff from both The 2014 film and Godzilla: Awakening about just how durable this Godzilla is.
(And before anyone says anything, despite the continuity discrepancies between Godzilla: Awakening and the 2014 film, Legendary still considers it canon to the MonsterVerse, as revealed at the "Secrets of the MonsterVerse" panels. Additionally, writer Max Borenstein, who worked on both the film and comic, offered the explanation that details from Awakening that are not shown or mentioned onscreen (such as Shinomura) could simply be kept secret by Monarch).
So I'll be using feats from that too.
In Awakening, Godzilla Survived the Permian Extinction Meteor and slept for years.
(It's one of the first few parts in the video).
Then there's the case of this Godzilla surviving nuclear explosions. The Castle Bravo Test for example.
(The force of which was equal to 15 megatons of TNT. And from what the Opening seems to suggest, he was hit at very close range if not directly from that thing).
Then he's hit DIRECTLY by another explosion from some sort of bomb that seemingly took out the whole temple.
And while it may have had less of the force than the previous bomb, it's still an impressive feat for him to survive something like that point blank that destroyed a temple that was who knows how large for godzilla to be able to fit in.
Also, there is such a thing as being stronger than how you previously we years before. Michael Dougherty said in a tweet about a year ago or so that Godzilla was "evolution in flesh". And while that statement was about how Godzilla was going to look in this film. It can still be taken into account for how godzilla's feats changed.
Such as the appearances of his body compared to 2014.
*The dorsal fins have grown and changed.
*His body is a bit bulkier than it was in 2014.
*He's grown from 108 meters to 119.8 meters from 2014 to 2019.
And it's shown in some moments of the trailers and TV Spots that he's at the very least going toe to toe with Ghidorah, even getting a hit on him with his tail and atomic breath. So, who's to say godzilla didn't get stronger during all that time.
And let's not forget that Godzilla: Aftershock (a prequel tie in novel to king of the monsters) is being released in May on the 21st (10 days before the film). And he'll probably have more feats displayed in that comic as well.
Now, I'm not saying that Godzilla will 100% survive a drop from that far in the sky. In fact, he could nearly die from the long fall. I'm merely saying that something shouldn't be compared to a building falling on him.
