Two weeks, after everyone starts the new semester of  school, for the new year Adrien sees Marinette as she crosses the street.  He can tell she is not aware of the car that comes around the corner.  He rushes out into the road, and picks her up.  He carries in his arms as he runs to the safety of the sidewalk.  Once out of harms way, he looks up at her in concern.

"Marinette, are you alright?"  Adrien ask.

"Y-Yeah, thanks to you!" Marinette says. She hugs him.  Adrien returns the hug and blushes.

"Mari, why were you in the road like that in the first place?  You could have gotten killed!"  Adrien says.

      "S-Sorry,  I promise i-it will n-not happen a-again, A-Adrien!"  Marinette says.

"It better not.   Goodness, you scared me!"  Adrien says.

     " I know."  Marinette says.

"I do not think you really do."  Adrien says.  He begins to cry.

"A-Adrien why are you crying?"  Marinette ask.

"What would I do, if you died?"  Adrien says.

"It would be okay, you would still have Nino, and all your other friends."  Marinette remarks.

"Are you kidding me?  Marinette, I can not loose you!"  Adrien says.

Marinette looks at him in surprise. She is not quite sure what to make of his sudden outburst, his concern, the tears that form in his eyes, and his confession about  not being able to loose her.  She is not sure how to react.  How does a person react when their crush reacts in such a way as this?   She blushes.

"I am okay. "  Marinette says.

"I know, but I am not." Adrien says.  He thinks, what would I do without her in my life?

Adrien holds her hand and walks with her to class.  Marinette does not say a word.  She just blushes as they head inside.  Adrien sits next to Marinette as Nino has Stacy to sit with him now.

The teacher begins the lesson, but the whole time all Adrien can think about is how he almost lost the girl he loves.  If he had not been there she would have died.  He struggles to get over the truth that he loves her more than she could ever imagine.  He wishes he would have told her he loves her!

Later, that day, after school, Adrien walks Marinette home.  She does not look at him.  He glances her way though.  He smiles.  Once they reach her place, he reaches up, and kisses her cheek.

"Mari, I-I , got to g-go, but t-take care of yourself!"  Adrien says.

"I will, I promise!  S-See you l-later, Adrien!"  Marinette says.

Adrien leaves and goes on home.

After he has gone her father looks at her with concern as does her mother.

"Okay, young lady, out with it!"  Sabine says.

"Yes, do tell us, why Adrien is so upset?"  Tom says.

"It is nothing, really."  Marinette says.

"Marinette, we know that things have been hard for everyone since Alya's death, and especially for you since you are her best friend.  In fact, we have thought about  it  and decided we will send you away for a few months to see your aunt in Georgia.  So, go pack your things!" Sabine says.

      "What?  Why?"  Marinette ask.

"Just do as your mother says, young lady!" Tom says.

"Yes, sir!" Marinette says.  She goes to her room and packs a lot of things.  When she finishes, she has her purse, a duffel bag, and two suitcases all ready to go.

"Now, Marinette, please tell us, why Adrien was worried?"  Tom says.

"We love you, our daughter!  We only want to make sure you two did not get in a fight, or something!  I mean we can tell you love him, and he is your friend too."  Sabine says.

Sabine  purposely leaves out the part where she suspects Adrien loves her daughter in return and may be the mysterious rose and gift sender.  She figures there is no way Marinette would believe this anyway.  So no need to mention it, right?

"Fine, I really do not see what the big deal is though.  I  just took longer to cross the street than usual, and he grabs me and carries me  across to the sidewalk.  He says, I was almost hit by a car!  There you happy?"  Marinette says.

"Oh, dear!" Sabine says. Her eyes water now too  as  she hugs their daughter.

"I am so glad, Adrien was there to help you!  Talk about a close call!"  Tom says as he takes a turn to hug their daughter next.

Tom's  POV:   What a relief, Adrien got to her on time!  I really must figure out some way to thank him for the life of our only daughter.  I do want him to know how much we appreciate this.  Why if it were not for him, then what?  Our daughter could be hurt and in the hospital, or injured on the side of the road, or maybe even worse. Our daughter could have died if it were not for his quick, risky and heroic actions that is for sure.

Sabine's  POV:  Adrien is our hero!  He kept our sweet, daughter alive!  We must reward him, but how? In what way?  I can see like any one else, except for maybe Marinette herself, that the young boy obviously loves our Marinette.  I wish she could see it too.  I mean it!  It is so obvious those two belong together, like crackers and cheese, like swiss and ham, like peas in a pod, etc.

Marinette's  POV:  I really do not see why everyone goes on and on about it.  I mean it!  Good giref!  It was nice to have Adrien hold me in his arms though!  Wait, what?  I blush as I recall how it felt to have him pick me up and make sure  I was safe.  Goodness, he did not even think about his own safety.  I must really think him more properly when I return from my aunts place.   Oh, dear, I do hope he will know where I am while I  am away.  If not he is sure to worry even more.

Adrien's  POV:  Marinette, made me think, that I would loose it!  I almost did for that matter. How could she have been so foolish as to not pay attention to her surroundings like this?  I mean, I know things are hard for her since Alya died, but that is no reason to make me worry for her?  Is it?  I  love her to much to let her die from a car  running her down that is for sure.  If it came down to it and I had to die to save her, then I would!  I love her that much.
