Adrien and Marinette struggles when it comes to an explanation about the elopement. They both have no clues on how to go about telling them. It is not like it is an easy thing to explain. They can only hope no one's feelings will be hurt.
It has been two weeks since the private wedding. Adrien and Marinette are not sure how they kept it a secret for so long. The two went on a hike together, and when they return chose to sit together on the sofa at Marinette's parents' place.
Adrien kisses Marinette. Marinette returns his kisses. At some point, Adrien finds himself on Marinette's lap. The two relax as they enjoy themselves as husband and wife.
Tom walks on them and demands an explanation!
"Adrien, Marinette, what do you think you are doing?" Tom says.
Sabine comes to see what all the fuss is about and gasp. She thinks, no wonder Tom is upset with them. She decides to listen to find out what they have to say for themselves.
"Sir, I can explain," Adrien says. He feels embarrassed about being caught with his wife.
"Well, then explain away, son," Tom says.
"Father, it is okay! He did not do anything wrong." Marinette says. She feels her face turn red as tears run down her face.
" I find him with you in a compromising position, and you calm he has done nothing wrong?" Tom says. His voice shows his concern and anger at once.
"Dad, we are married to each other," Marinette says.
"Marinette is right, we have been married for two weeks now," Adrien says.
"Well, then welcome to the family, Adrien!" Tom says. He leaves the room to give them some privacy.
Sabine smiles, hugs Adrien, then Marinette. She leaves the room to give them privacy as well.
Marinette looks at Adrien and laughs.
Marinette remarks, "This was not how I thought we would tell my parents, but at least they are not angry with us."
Adrien replies, " It is a relief they are okay with it."
Marinette responds, "Let us get ready to tell your father!"
Adrien sighs but knows his lovely wife is right. Adrien and Marinette get ready to leave. They tell her mom and dad, "Thanks for understanding! We have to go tell Adrien's father now."
Tom smiles, and says, "We understand. Take good care of yourself! Adrien, I am glad to call you my son-in-law!"
Sabine smiles, and says, "Congratulations you two! We expect some grandchildren someday."
Marinette blushes as she says, "Okay, mom!"
Marinette turns and speaks to Adrien, "Come on dear, Let us go speak to your father."
Adrien nods his head in agreement as they leave with some of Marinette's things. They arrive together at the mansion where Adrien rings the doorbell. The gorilla as Adrien refers to the chauffeur, answers the door. He lets them inside with a smile on his face.
The couple follows him to Gabriel's study. Marinette sits down in a chair across from Gabriel as Adrien takes a seat beside her.
"Hello, son! To what do I have the pleasure of seeing you today?" Gabriel says.
"Hello, father! I want you to know I am married to Marinette." Adrien confesses.
"I see," Gabriel says. His voice is void of all emotion.
"Sir, I am sorry about Natalie," Marinette says.
"Marinette, my dear daughter-in-law, I can see you make my son happy. Thank you for this." Gabriel says.
"You are welcome, sir," Marinette replies.
"Sir is so formal. Please do call me Gabriel as I am your father-in-law for how long is it?" Gabriel remarks.
"We got eloped two weeks ago," Adrien says.
"Hmm, well then, congratulations to both of you!" Gabriel says.
Marinette stands up and immediately hugs her father-in-law. Gabriel hugs her back as Adrien looks on with a look of surprise in his eyes. He cannot believe his father is not furious at him, or that he approves of his Marinette.
"Thanks, dear, now you two, better head up to your room," Gabriel says.
"Oh, yes, father," Adrien says. He hugs his father and leaves.
Adrien and Marinette goes to Adrien's room. Adrien shakes his head and thinks; it is our room now. He smiles and helps Marinette find a place to put her belongings. Adrien and Marinette prepare for bed. Soon, they fall asleep.
The next morning, Adrien and Marinette get ready for the day. They go downstairs at the same time. They see Gabriel asleep at his desk inside his study. They fix breakfast and make sure to save some of the food for Adrien's father.
After breakfast, Marinette places the tray full of food on Gabriel's desk. She gently touches his shoulder to wake him up.
"Gabriel, the food is ready," Marinette says.
"Thank you, I am not hungry," Gabriel says.
"Gabriel, please eat something," Marinette says with her hands on her hips. She gives him a glare that shows she means business.
Gabriel laughs, picks up the fork and knife, and cuts his waffle. He takes a bite. He smiles, eats the rest of the food, drinks the juice, and says, " Breakfast is rather good, thank you, Marinette."
Marinette smiles as she says, "You are welcome, Gabriel."
"Would you like some coffee or tea?" Marinette asks.
"Tea, with cream, would be nice," Gabriel says.
Marinette nods her head. She returns to the kitchen, fixes some tea, adds the cream and hands the cup to Gabriel. She leaves the room with tears in her eyes.
Adrien sees his wife's tears. He can tell something troubles her. He wishes to discover the cause of them.
He speaks to his father, "Father, did you say something to upset, Marinette?"
Gabriel takes a sip of his tea and sets the mug down.
"Son, I did not. She brought me the tea and left the room. Why is there a problem?" Gabriel remarks.
"No, father. I will speak to her." Adrien says. He walks off to go find Marinette. He smiles when he sees her on the bottom of the staircase.
