The contracts I was assigned were now finished. Since I wasn't sure what to do now that I had I decided to go bother Mario. He wasn't doing anything in particular so he didn't mind. Eventually, my curiosity got the best of me and I started bombarding him with the questions that filled my thoughts. He found this amusing but answered them nevertheless so I was thankful.
The door swung open and stopped our conversation. Lucius appeared and told me to come with him. Giving Mario, one last bye I followed behind him to the car. I expected more people to be accompanying us but it was just me and him all alone in the truck. I don't get it. Why was he keeping me alive? Did he have a purpose for doing all this? I leaned against the window taking in the scenery. Well, I guess I was somewhat joyous that I still had my life. With no knowledge of where I was going shaking my leg had helped with staying awake.
I hadn't noticed he was watching me this whole time until he spoke on it. "Despite your annoying ass leg shaking my seat. Your eyes appear dead. Just do us both a favor and fall asleep before I cut your leg off," A domestic growl escaped his throat and so I stopped shaking my leg altogether.
Where the hell was I even going? We've been on the road for damn near an hour now and I'm psychically exhausted and the more I gazed out the window the more I started drifting to sleep.
Lucius
I peeked into the rearview to see her leaned against the window sleeping. At least she's quiet. I gave the guy that was driving behind us the signal and he left my sight. That little bitch stayed behind his little guard dogs and ordered them to do his bidding. That in itself made me laugh. She groaned when I drove over a speed bump but stayed asleep. We were almost where I needed to be anyway. Ten minutes of aggravating traffic passed before we arrived at the bar.
She stirred in her sleep before she stretched out her limps with a yawn. She took in her surroundings before noticing I was about to leave her in the car but she out before I managed to. The bar was full as always once I stepped foot inside everyone's fell on me and the girl scooted closer to me, feeling timid at the sudden attention as for me I was used to it.
"Please tell me you're not here, please. Dammit," The familiar Irish voice cursed under his voice. I ignored him and went to the far right corner of the bar snatching a drink on the way. "Ok! Listen up I want everyone to pick up their asses and get the fuck out of my bar! You too you drunk bastard!" The girl stood on the side of me not making a sound. She was debating if she should leave or not.
I took a sip of the beer "I'm going to need a refill,"
He pulled out a chair sitting across from me "You'll get a refill when you pay for that drink in your hand. What are you doing here, Lucius?" He asked eyeing me
"Well, I'm going on a little trip and you seem like the perfect man to help with that," I burped sliding the empty glass over to him.
He scoffed and put his attention on the girl "Who's the lassie?"
"Don't worry about it,"
He rolled his eyes "What's your name lassie?" He stuck up his hand
She stared at it before taking it in her's "Azami," she smiled
"I'm Mantèl, you can sit down I'm not like this grouch over here," He chuckled
"If you two are done with this buddy bullshit I'd like to get back to the task at hand." I snarled
His eyes darted to her swollen ankle "She wouldn't approve of you treating the girl this way. In fact, she would probably take your beer cans and shove them up your ass. La-"
I glared at him so he raised his hands up in defeat. He asks the girl to give us some privacy for the time being seeing as I was getting irritated. He even informed her he had food and beverages if she wanted. I stared at him as he went over to the bar to get drinks.
