16. Peace exists (Not the last chapter)

"Hero gets remembered, but legends never die"

-Five years later-

-After a battle-

"We did it, another battle won" Thomas said, Minho and Mike smile. But suddenly a man got up, drew his gun and pointed it on Thomas "THOMAS" a voice yelled, and Sara jumped in front of him and push him aside. Gally drew his gun and two gun shot was heard, the man fell on the ground and was dead, Gally and the others looked at the man.

Thomas looked at the man, then on Sara, she looked down on her stomach, Thomas did the same and he saw that she had been shot, Sara looked at him and felled on the ground. "NO" Minho and Thomas yelled and they ran over to her. Minho took his hand on her wound and he try to stop the bleeding, Thomas had his left hand under her head and hold it up, both him and Minho try to stop the bleeding. Gally, Brenda, Vince, Jorge and Mike try to help them stop the bleeding, but it didn't help. "Bring some more" Minho yelled and Sara looked at Minho "Is too late" she said and Minho shook his head "No is not" he said "Come on, help" Thomas said.

Sara knew that her time has come, all of her friends stood around her, with tears in their eyes. The people she have known longest, Thomas, Mike, Minho and Gally stood closest to her. Sara looked at Vince, he also had tears in his eyes "Take care of my son, raise him well" she said while some blood came out of her mouth. Vince nodded "I will take care of him as he was my own" he said and Sara smiled before she looked at Minho and the others "Promise me that you will tell my son, that you will tell NJ about me and who his father was. Promise me, you will tell him the story of how his father and I met, how Newt and I met, tell him about anything that we have experienced, promise that you will make him remember us" she said and Minho nodded "We promise" Gally said.

Sara looked at Thomas, they looked into each other eyes "I am sorry Tom, for what I almost did to you. And I am sorry I got angry at you, when Newt died, can you forgive me?" Sara asked and Thomas nodded "I already did, five years ago at the beach" he said, he then took a deep breath "Why did you took that bullet for me, it should have been me not you" Thomas said with tears in his eyes and Sara smiled "You are like a brother to me Tom, and therefore a family and a family protects each other, no matter what" she said, Thomas looked at her, you could see that he was crying, because this reminded him of Chuck's and Newt's death, and also because another part of his family was laying dying in front of him and again there was nothing he could do.

Sara smiled "My fight is over" she said, but Minho shook his head "No, we will not accept that" he said. "In the end, death claims us all, and today it claims me" Sara said amd a tear felled from Minho's eyes. "May we meet again" she said. Sara saw that everything around her became more and more blurry, she looked up at the blue sky, "I am coming love" she said and then anything went black.

Suddenly she opened her eyes, and it was white all around her, she saw a gate and she start to walked towards it.

When she was close it opened, and she saw a place that looked like the Glade, but more beautiful and it did not have four walls, but instead a beautiful ocean, that look like the ocean at The Safe Heaven. Suddenly three people came running over to Sara. It was Alex, Chuck and Teresa, she hugged them. "You guys are here" she said and nodded "Come, there is someone who have been waiting for you" Teresa said, Sara followed them to a hill, she saw that people stood in two long rows that stopped up at the top of the hill, it was all of her friends that she has lost. She saw someone was standing on the top of the hill, Sara could only see the person's back. She start walking up the hill while looking at her friends.

She saw all of her dead friends, Wilson, Mary, David, Will, Luke, Nick, Simon, Ben and her mother Lucy, they all smiled to her.

Sara was almost on the top, she saw, Alby, Winston, Chuck, Teresa and Alex, they also smiled to her. When she was few steps from the top, the person who stood on the top turned around, Sara smiled.

It was her beloved Newt. "No distance will ever tear us apart, Love" he said. A tear of joy felled from her eyes, Newt smiled and stretched his hand towards Sara, she took his hand, walked up so she was standing in front of him "I told you that we will meet again and that no matter what happen we will always find a way back to each other" Newt said and Sara smiled, "Are you ready?" he asked. "Always, I am always ready with you" Sara said.

Newt smiled and as they kissed, their friends clapped. As soon as Newt and Sara lips touched, the sun shined on them.

After they have buried Sara, Thomas sat by the sea looking out over the ocean. He opened up a letter that he had found laying on the table in Sara's cabin.

He took a deep breath before he start reading it.

Dear Newt

I'm replying to the letter you left me. I know you won't reply back. But I am still gonna say it.

There was never really a right time to say goodbye, not when you looked at me with all the misery in your eyes, not when we were running for our lives in a sea of endless fire and fear. And I was suppsed to save you, I promised but when I gazed down upon your lifeless body with a knife through your heart. I knew I wasn't fast enough. I'm sorry. Everywhere I go, I see something that reminds me of you, whether its the way that the sun hits that rock at the perfect moment lighting up your name as though its meant to be there, or a simple hole of dirt being dug into the ground. I don't really think I've fully accepted that you're gone yet, even so its five years ago. I keep hoping for you. And I'm closing my eyes more often than not hoping that the healing will come soon.

I just can't believe you're gone. It's not the same without you.
The safe haven is such a peaceful place. I wish you could see it. It's on the egde of nowhere. When you mentioned 'the sun hitting the glade at that perfect moment before it slid beneath the walls' it does it here, Newt. Every time the sun sets, I think of you.

It has been really hard to keep things under control here without you and Alby but Minho and Thomas are helping me the best they can. But it's still not the same without you.

We're all here...Well not all of us, we miss you so much.

Little NJ is going great. I wish you could see him. He looks a lot like you, the older he gets the more he remind me of you. He is so full with happiness and joy, he is my light in the darkness.
He have ask me who and where his dad is. And I am not ready to tell him the truth. So I am just saying that you are far from here and it make me sad.

I love you and I miss you, but maybe I will see you again soon.

A tear felled from Thomas' eyes as he read the letter.

He then wipe the tear away before he looked out over the ocean

"Peace exists. It lives in everything we hold dear. That is the promise of peace, that one day after we have live our lives. We will find each other again"
