A woman sauntered to the Hokage's office with the glide of someone who knew she was powerful and deadly. As she breezed past, the people in the hall called out greetings to her, pleased to have seen her looking happy today. The woman's lips curved upwards as she was warmed inside by their affection towards her. She came to the Hokage's door and knocked twice.

"Come in." The Fifth said from behind the door. The woman entered, bowing towards the desk.
"Shishou. You have need of me?"

"Yes Sakura."

_____________

"Was there something you needed Shishou?" She asked, her jade eyes holding a warmth that was a rarity these days.
"Yes Sakura. We've received some interesting news about the Akatsuki."

"The mysterious evil organisation that's been going around and capturing tailed beasts?" She asked. Lady Tsunade nodded.

"Yes, from all accounts, and this is from several of the major villages, the Akatsuki, who have so far captured the one, two, three, four and five tails, have actually given back the tailed beasts and their hosts, alive, and stopped hunting them altogether. From all accounts, they've given them back as a sign of Goodwill in hopes the villages would start alliances with them."

Sakura furrowed her brows, biting her lip as two vertical lines appeared between her brows.
"That's extremely... Odd." She began as her mind worked to divine a reason for such an abrupt turnabout.

"Have the villages checked the hosts for any signs of coercion? Genjutsu? Mind control ninjutsu? They do have Itachi Uchiha with them after all." She said.

"They checked for everything. No one shows any sign of coercion or being under a genjutsu. They remember everything. And there's no foreign chakra within their systems either. They're clean."

Sakura's frown deepened as she worried her lip under her teeth, a habit she had when she was thinking. Then she snapped her fingers as a lightbulb came over her head.
"They frightened!" She said. Tsunade frowned, leaning back in her chair.
"I highly doubt the Akatsuki, who've been taking down high profile people to mention, are scared." She said.

"Think about it Tsunade-sama. Why would they, already renowned criminals, suddenly turn good and then try to strike up alliances with the very people they set out to defeat? It makes no sense. There's got to be someone much stronger than them coming, as chilling as that is, and the Akatsuki are scared enough that they turned to radical actions instead of taking these unknown on by themselves. And I bet, Tsunade-sama, that they'll come here looking for an alliance next." Sakura said in response.

Tsunade sighed. As usual, her student made perfect sense.
"What are we going to do Lady Tsunade?" Shizune asked, holding a worried looking TonTon.
"We have the advantage here. Like Sakura said, they'll come looking for an alliance with us. All we have to do is wait. And keep an eye on what they are doing with the other nations." The blonde Hokage said.
"Hai, Tsunade-sama." The pinkette said.

She was about to ask Tsunade of there was anything else she needed of the pinkette, while Tsunade was just about to send her on a mission when there was a sound of rapid footsteps down the hall followed by shouts.
