"Excuse me?" I was shocked.
"In order for these rumors to die down, we want you to temporarily be Mr. Hemmings' partner."
"I- I do-don't?"
"Understand? Of course not. Perhaps, Mr. Hemmings would care to explain some more?"
"Uh..well Lea, they think that the best way to keep from anything bad happening to us or our fans, is to make them think we're dating. Help calm down the rumors a bit."
"Isn't that lying to your fans!?! How is that supposed to help with anything!?!?" I was getting panicked for who knows what. I was just in that mood.
"I- I don't know exaaccttllyy but-"
"It's quite simple, really." The lady interrupted. "Once the girls figure out that you're not some other...one-night stand, most of them will be happy that Luke has found some type of ground."
"And the other girls? What will they do?"
"Well of course, you're bound to get hate from them. How extreme? We won't know. But seeing how the fans reacted so far to everything else, it won't be too bad. Maybe."
"You get used to it. Really, you do Lea." Ash added.
"Once you ignore the negativity, everythings seems as good as pizza." Mikey said.
"Besides, you'll know we'll always love you." Calum added.
"Always." Luke whispered and took my hand in his.
"So what do you think, Miss Thorne?"
I was getting scared. If I agree, I save their career and get to see them be happy. But I'm going to get even more hate than I already do. If I don't agree, everything will be over. No more 5 Seconds of Summer, no more instrumental bands on the radio, and chances are, some lives will be taken away. I couldn't let that happen. All those girls who see these boys as their only constant, their sunshine, their everything. I can't take it away from them.
I squeezed Luke's hand.
"I'll do it."

I think about this a lot tbh. What would happen if 5sos or 1d became no more? They were taken away from us bc of one stupid rumor? :( I would cry forever.
