5 years later....

I was lying down in the emergency room, my back against the hospital bed. I stared at the bright lights above. Then the wretched pain in my stomach started again.

"Okay! It's coming soon!"

I nodded my head. I don't think I was ready for my body to be ripped in half. But I think it will be worth it later on.

"Push!!" The doctor commanded.

I was screaming. A lot.

"It's okay Lea. You're fine!" My husband, Luke, was telling me. I looked at him and knew he was more nervous than I was. I kept pushing.

It was a lot of pain. But finally it was over.

"What's his name?"

"Jack." I breathed out. They handed me my baby.

"You're so beautiful." I whispered. He wasn't crying, so I could see into his blue eyes. They were darker than his father's and some brown specks in there from me.

His face was round and chubby, like a baby's should be. His head was covered in curly dirty blonde hair.

"Hi, Jack" I said in that voice all adults use to speak to infants.

He giggled and I saw dimples in his cheeks already.

"Can I hold him?" I forgot Luke was still standing there.

"Of course, honey." I handed our son over to him.

He took him into his arms and stared down at the tiny bundle in his arms. Then something unexpected happened.

Luke started crying. The baby noticed and started to tear up. But then Jack grabbed Luke's finger and stared at his father with a smile on his face.

"He's gonna grow up to be a good man." A nurse had walked in. "But for now, I'm going to have to take Baby Jake to the infirmary."

Luke handed the baby over to the nurse. She grabbed onto the bundle and went out of the room.

"We have a baby." Luke said.

"Yes we do." I said, a smile on my face. I think the shock of it all finally got to Luke.

"Please don't cry again. " I told Luke. I was tired and in pain from labour.

"I won't Lea." He bent down and kissed the top of my head. "Go sleep now. I'll watch the baby while you rest."

"Okay." I said.

"I love you, Lea. Always."

I yawned, fatigue taking over. "I love...you, Luke. Always." I closed my eyes.

And the world went silent.
