Chapter 18 - Lucy

Lucy ran to the car and got in. Maddi was sitting in the passengers seat and doing something on her phone. Lucy started the car and drove out of the car park. She sped down the road that lead towards the cliffs.

"Where are we going?!" Maddi had put down her phone and was looking around, trying to figure out where they were.

"We're picking Luke up." Lucy answered calmly, not wanting to freak Maddi out.

"Why isn't he at the church still?"

"He was following Luke to the cliffs. He's somewhere on the side of the road."

"Why didn't he tell us?!"

Lucy rolled her eyes. Sometimes Maddi gets caught up in her own little world and forgets everything else.

"He did tell us. That's why I was on the phone and why we are now heading to him."

"Oh. Right."

Lucy rolled her eyes again as Maddi went back to her phone. Maddi put some headphones in and bobbed her head along to whatever she was listening to. Lucy sighed and looked out the window, searching for Luke.

Lucy kept driving for what felt like hours until she noticed something on the ground at the side of the road. It looked like Luke's phone. But Luke was nowhere to be seen.

Lucy swerved off the road and hit the brakes. Maddi hit her head on the window and complained but Lucy didn't pay attention. She jumped out of the car and ran to the phone. She picked it up and turned on the screen to see a picture of Sofia and Luke the night they got engaged.

Lucy wiped the tears from her eyes and put the phone in her pocket. She looked around her but she couldn't see Luke anywhere. She shook her head to stop the tears that were threatening to fall and headed back to the car.

Her life was falling apart. Sofia, her best friend, goes missing and now Luke has left her as well. Luke. Luke left her.

Lucy shook the thoughts away. Of course Luke went away. He needs to be with Sofia. Sofia, his fiancée. Luke and Sofia are meant to be together.

Lucy bit her lip to stop the tears from falling again. She wouldn't cry. She had to find Luke. No. She had to find Sofia.
