Lauren and Keith are watching tv in the living room while their mother Sarah takes a nap. "Can you turn the tv up please?" Keith asks. Lauren shot him a look and said " you know mom is sleeping and doesn't like the tv up loud". " please just a little" Keith said with a wimpier. "Fine" Lauren said giving in to her brother's whine. As Lauren went to reach for the remote she tripped over a toy car which caused a big thud noise. All of a sudden their mother yelled from her bedroom "what the hell was that noise."? Both Keith and Lauren kept quiet. "Oh now everybody is deaf huh" Lauren and Keith kept quiet once more. Becoming aggravated because no one was answering  Sarah began to get up that's when Lauren answered. "It was just the tv mom" Sarah was very hesitant but let it go and said, "next time I speak to the two of you I better get a response". They both said yes ma'am. Two hours passed and Sarah got up to start dinner.
"I'll be out there in a minute to start cooking guys" Sarah yelled from her bedroom door. In that instance, Lauren jumped up. Startled by his sister's movements Keith asked "what's wrong with you" in a shaky voice. "I forgot to take the frozen vegetables out" Lauren mentioned with a tremble. Keith walks over and tries to comfort her. It was working until  Sarah comes out yelling "gosh dammit why didn't your stinking behind getting in the shower Keith" "I-i-i f-f-forgot mom" Keith stumbled. Just go, shower idiot, Sarah ordered. He ran back towards the bathroom but returned a few minutes later because he had needed help turning off the old rusty hot water knob. "Go help that stupid brother of yours" Sarah yelled to Lauren. A few seconds later she returned to the kitchen, "can I be of any help mom."? "Yeah you can pass me the vegetables I asked you to take out earlier" she replied. Lauren stopped dead in her tracks. "Um about that I was so into the tv that I forgot." Lauren tried explaining to her mother what but she wasn't really listening. Sarah walked up to Lauren and slapped her in the face and then started kicking her on the ground. "The next time I tell you that something needs to be done that's what I mean you stupid hoe" Sarah stated as she was still kicking Lauren in the ribs. Keith hears all the commotion so he gets dressed and walks into the kitchen, he already knows that he will be next if he made the wrong move.  Keith rushes over to comfort Lauren and begins begs and pleads with their mother to stop hurting her. "She's sorry mama I it won't happen again I promise" Keith screams as tears fall down his face. Sarah starts to get annoyed with their presence and pushes Keith to the ground then lifts her hand to strike him. She watches her children hug each other in the fetal position and walks back to the stovetop to finish dinner as she mutters "look at two the mistakes down there crying". Time passes and they finished dinner without a single word being spoken.
