But first, lets rewind the clock back to when I was around nine. Before I was aware of any of this.
"Luna, you've gotten so big and beautiful!"
"Thanks aunt Stormi." I told her.
I later found out that she wasn't really my aunt. She was just a really good friend of my mom's and Lillie. This "family" is just full of secrets isn't it?
"Luke, baby," Stormi pinched Luke's cheeks. "You're so cute!"
"Stormi," Lillie said coming into view. "How are you?"
"Great! How are you guys holding up?"
"It's been good." Lillie smiled. "Where's Dylan?"
"He's with Ashton." Stormi told Lillie.
"Five years," Lillie raised her eyebrows. "It's been a long time since I've seen you."
Normally, I wouldn't pay attention to adult conversations. I always found them boring, but the weird thing is, sometimes I wouldn't mean to listen to them. It would just... happen. I could do this thing where I would play or be doing something, but still be able to listen or focus on something completely different. I don't know, maybe I was a multitasker. I never really cared too much. That particular day though, I was sitting on the couch at Stormi's house, watching TV with Luke, eating chips, but still listening to their conversation.
"Yeah well, we grew up. We got married. We had kids." Stormi said. "We had to eventually go our separate ways."
"I know, but I miss living with you. Even if," Lillie shook her head. "Things were chaos at times."
"Yeah, I agree. How's Dan holding up?" Stormi asked.
"He's good. He still lives in California like always, and he visits Luna almost all the time."
"You guys live close?"
"Like several miles away, yeah. Niall decided it would be best to stay as far away from Seattle as possible. He figured that after the loss of his father and brother and his mother being sent to a mental institute, for varies attempts at killing herself, that there would no reason for us to stay in Seattle. We decided to stay here in California, close to Dan and well, Jamie."
"Yeah, it's been a rough life for us all." Stormi added. "Do your parents still live in California too?"
"Yeah, they moved to Santiago about three years ago though. How about yours?"
"Yep, same house I grew up in and everything." Stormi laughed. "They come and visit us here in Houston once in a while. However, Ashton's mom is the sweetest thing ever, Lillie."
"Oh yeah, I remember you telling me that. His dad's not..." Lillie trailed off.
Stormi shook her head. "His dad stays out of all conversations."
"Understood." Lillie nodded. "So have you heard from Liam? He's becoming a pretty big actor."
"No and I don't want too. He's in the past."
"Anyways, I'm glad we finally reunited. When are Elle, Emily, Yadeli, and Maddie arriving?"
"Tomorrow. I'm just so glad we are all here. The last time we saw each other was at Jamie's gravestone five years ago. Luna was five, right?" Lillie nodded. "It's been too long."
"No kidding, this whole camping out thing is going to be great." Lillie added. "Two weeks of doing nothing."
"Did you ever hear about Zayn? I was surprised to even see him at Jamie's anniversary. Well, not surprised, but you know, he like disappeared." Stormi said.
"No, you know, I never heard from him. I hope he's doing good." Lillie sighed. "I can't imagine being him."
"Yeah, I know. For the first time ever we thought Jamie would actually settle down."
Lillie shook her head. "Let's not talk about this." Lillie got closer to Stormi. "Luna's over there and I don't want her to overhear us."
"Wait, you haven't told her yet?"
I remember looking up at them at the mention of my name.
"She's nine, Stormi. It's not time yet."
After that, all I remember was meeting some chick named Elle, who was cool as hell for a model. Her husband, Jeremy, was the best though. He was like a genius in chemistry and making explosives. I remember him building this huge volcano and blowing it up along with some bricks and rocks and other things. I also remember their annoying kids. I was always the oldest one out of the group, by like a year or two years, but these boys were four and five at the time and they were annoying. Emily and Wes were pretty cool, but again, their children were annoying. She had twin girls which made it ten times worse. Emily always gave me wads of money, just because I would always beat her in chess, soccer, and pretty much ever thing. I enjoyed Emily, she taught me chess, which is actually really fun. It's reminded me of a cop for some reason. They're always standing around, but you never know what their next move is going to be or when they're going sneak up on you. Yadeli and Royce had three kids: one girl and two boys. They were a strangely interesting couple. Maddie Hemmings was my favorite though. Her and her husband owned this music shop, and while we were in Houston, Maddie taught me how to play the guitar. It was cool. They had three boys. It was a mad house let me tell you. It smelt like poop and piss for the entire two weeks that we stayed there.
I never heard of them again, which sucked because I enjoyed all of them. Elle even took some "model" pictures of me. She really liked my eyes for some reason. Growing up, I always got made fun of for having different colored eyes, which made no sense because once I hit high school I was like the main attraction. I don't get it. I just went along with it.
When I was thirteen, I remember coming home from school with Luke to find Lillie crying. She was on the phone with Stormi and talking about how one of her old friends, Molly, had died from drug overdose. Luke and I kind of just hugged her and called dad. I mean, Lillie, she's fragile. Once, Luke and I found her passed out in the living room because she had a really bad emotional breakdown while dad was at work. He immediately came home and took the next three days off. Before we knew it, we were flying to Seattle to Molly's funeral. She was quite beautiful for a druggie. I saw Stormi there and a few people my dad introduced me to, but that was that.
