'Aargh!' I groaned. I had had an amazing sleep and I felt even better after being fixed up from the fight. I still had to ask about my injuries and the fight but that would have to wait, today was the day I leave the hospital for angels.
My eyes flickered open to reveal a scene of military people rushing round with boxes in their hands. I noticed a amber haired angel swiftly make her way over to my bed.
'I see your wide awake, trooper,' she almost yelled at me with an Australian accent. 'Get dressed, over in the bathroom,' she yelled, pointing to an enclosed room with a toilet sign above it. She handed me a brown duffle bag containing my old clothes and pulled, what a long black bag with the word 'weapon' written on it and passed it to me. With all my equipment in tact I trudged over to the bathroom.
Once inside I quickly emptied out the duffel. I noticed as well as my old clothes there was a pair of undies; phew! I undid the blue gown, draped it on the floor and pulled on the pair of white knickers. I pulled my dark green shirt, which crossed over at the back, on and whipped my pair of army pants on. I emptied the weapons bag to find the sword still in the tube. Also included was several knives and some sheafs. I attached the sheafs to my arms and placed the knives in them. Also included was a sword sheaf attached to a belt. I quickly placed them on. I turned to see see myself in the mirror over the sink. What I saw was a girl with tousled blonde hair who looked edgy and dangerous.
Happy with the look I pulled my hair into a pony tail and walked out. Back in the hospital ward I found Kemp sitting on my bed. He smiled at me cheekily and I grinned back. Now that he didn't look so helpless he was was easy to get along with. He was kind of like a puppy that just wanted to play. Apart from our certain...differences...we got along well. I watched as the amber haired angel pushed him off the bed and shoved him over to me. I leant back against the white walls as he approached.
My hand was itching to grab one of the knives from my arm when I saw what he was pulling from the pockets of his shorts. He was heavily armed as well and in his hand he pulled a pyrites blade. For short it was a fire stone carved into a blade that could incinerate everything, except the holder, in a 10m radius. He gave me another cheeky smile.
'Put it away,' I laughed.
'We can't have them thinking we are weak. Remember we are the best fighters, they chose us,' reminded Kemp. His hair was falling gently over his eyes and he was wearing army pants like me. The only difference was the white tank top that he wore. I could see a ripple of muscle every time he moved. He turned turned around to put his back against the wall revealing large silver wings unlike any other. I began to itch with jealousy, wishing that nephilim had wings.
Before we had time to start talking again the auburn haired angel yelled at us to 'quick march' and follow Jerry. I just looked at Kemp waiting for him to lead the way.
'Trina, Jerry is the guy with military cut and silver hair, the guy with the white wings,' Kemp said pointing to an angel instructing other angels. Slowly I trudged over, I knew that from here on in, Jerry would be taking us to military school for angels.
I walked over and smiled innocently at him. I knew my smile was lost on him. I may look 16 but when you have lived since the great flood, your old eyes kind of give you away. Mine still contained the mischief that only comes with age and longevity. He gave me a menacing stare as if to suggest step one foot out of line and your time is out and I will kick your butt in battle. Too much information, well that's what his stare said.
He signaled for us to hall our junk into the trolley and follow him. With that we marched through the wings of the hospital and out into the real world.
The real world was unexpected. It was kind a stronghold on top of a hill surrounded by misty clouds. It was surreal and picture perfect. The mass of wings though saddened me a bit, sure I knew they needed me but these people were mystical and amazing. I truly was jealous of them and for once I wish I could fly. Jerry directed us into the back of a army truck and shut the door. Kemp and I remained silent on our long trip round the hills to our new military camp for angels + one nephilim.
