Chapter Twenty Four.
His smile when he knew I was alive as well. His feet shuffle from their place to having one foot on the other.
Larkin looks at the both of us and then I see him shift in his seat, "you know each other?"
Elijah doesn't speak but when he does it is like I am hearing him for the first time again, "yeah. Sort of. We-"
"We used to go to high school together," I interrupted him and then shifted in my seat as well. I take out my pen and notepad and look up at him again, "So Mr. Stevenson would you mind taking a few breathes then get into the character we provided?"
Elijah does just that at first he is small and innocent like as he starts off, "You think you know me, Trevor, but you don't," he paces from one spot to the next, "no you see her light is what I crave for at night. The small ending of her back all the way down to those feet that I could kiss at the end of the day. I love her more than life itself. More than what I love myself, " he shifts his collar a bit and then looks directly at me, "I wish I could have told her that more often."
"Because I wouldn't be in the predicament I am in now. I would be living with her there. I would go to that house every day and have no remorse of hiding my love," he points to the door as his nostrils flare and I see Larkin is highly impressed, "and I be damned if I ever had a chance to show her that again I would. I would go up to her and kiss her," he put his hand back down and finishes soft once again, "I would hold her so tightly and never let her go...not again."
He adds one thing for his own touch and I almost cry once he finishes, "never again."
Elijah moves from his spot and then Larkin claps his hand slowly, "very well. Mr. Eli. We will contact you."
Elijah nods to me and thanks the both of us before exiting. I fold my laptop and put it in my backpack, "you knew the last guy.." Larkin trails off as he stands up, "how well did you truly know him."
I shrug then put my hair behind my ears as I bend down and put the rest of the stuff into my backpack, "we had some classes together. He was in drama too. That's about it."
I left out the part I loved him and I almost died because of what happened. I would have to leave out everything if I truly want to keep this job.
Larkin bites his bottom lip, "well maybe we should pick him. You guys seem to get along. He is hellacious. Down right brilliant."
I stand back up and then my breath hitches, "you really think so?"
He nods, "easily. He should have been in the big time a long time ago." He gathers his things too and then smiles at me, "nice work. You can pick the best."
I am left in the room for a few minutes by myself to go over the paperwork and get either the rejection emails ready or the slip of acceptance.
I sit down at the table again and go over all f the notes. What he puts underneath Elijah to short and sweet.
*Excellent work. Really great posture and eye contact. Must have for the main part because he is a natural
I sigh and then the door opens again. I don't look up, "I will get the notes available to you later. I might go to Starbucks to concentrate."
"Well that would be good. Maybe I can join you."
I look up. Elijah is standing at the door with his hands in his pockets, "look I have a lot to explain to you."
I take my notes and put them into my backpack. I cross my arms over my chest and sigh, "yeah you do," I mutter, "you do have a lot to to explain like the fact you're here and alive. I watched you die."
