Chapter 8

Sophie's POV

I followed Thomas and Teresa to the med-jacks they needed to get the serum to him.

" We don't even know what this stuff is, We don't know who sent it, or why it came up here with you I mean for all we know it could kill him," Newt said.

" He is already dying look at him how could he get possibly make t any worse," Thomas said.

" He is right Newt I mean this can save Alby. We have no idea unless we try," I said.

" Come on she is right it is worth a try," Thomas said.

" All right," Newt said.

Before he could do it Alby shit wide awake and began yelling at Thomas and grabbing him by the collar of his shirt.

" Alby, Let him him," I shouted at him.

" You shouldn't be here," Alby said 

I ran and grabbed the serum of off Thomas out of his hands and I plunged it deep into his chest and Alby calmed down letting go of Thomas.

" Are you okay," I said to Thomas

"I am fine are you," He said.

" I think so," I said.

" Well that worked," Jeff said.

" Okay,from now on someone stays here and watches him around the clock," Newt said.

" Hey," Gally said at the door.

" Sundown Greenie,Time to go," Gally said.

" Stay with Teresa," Thomas said to me.

" I will," I said.

" Now what"

The next morning I found myself with Teresa We have been with Alby all night.

He woke up and he still hasn't said anything. Me and Teresa started to hear yelling so I said I would go outside and found out what going on.

" Hey," I shouted. The boys looked at me.

" Its Alby he is awake," I said.

" Has he said anything," Minho said.

" He won't talk," I said.

" Alby," Newt said.

" Hey Alby We might have just found a way out of the maze you here me we could be getting out of here," Thomas said.

" I can't Can't leave," Alby cried," They won't let us," 

" What are you talking about," Thomas said.

" I remember," Alby said.

"What do you remember," I said.

" You," He said and looked me and the turned at Thomas," You both were there favourite," 

There was commotion outside the Med-Jack room.

" What the hell is going on out there," I said.

" Why did you do this why did you come here," Alby cried.

" Hey Winston what is going on," Thomas said.

" It is the Maze doors They are not closing," Winston said.

" What"," I said as the Glader were running to the maze doors with torches. " Why aren't they closing what is going on," 

Thomas placed a hand on my back and we ran to the doors. We stopped and she stepped back looking through the doors. 

All of a sudden all the maze doors were opened.

" Hey chuck, i want you to go to the council hall Okay and start barricading the doors," I said.

"Teresa you go with him and Winston,"  Newt said.

" Got it" Winston said.

" Go get the others Tell them to go in the forest and hide," Gally said.

"And Minho I want you to find as many weapon you can find. Meet you at the council. Hey Soph you and I are going to get Alby all right," Thomas said.

The a large metallic creature was crawling towards them stalking the Gladers like its prey. 

" All right everybody hide," Thomas yelled. 

I sprinted though the field with everyone else trying to make there way to the council hall.

" Stay down," Thomas said and pushed me down trying to keep me safe from the Grievers that were trying to kill us.

We stayed silent and I glanced at Teresa and a scream from behind us made me gasp.

" Zart," Thomas yelled as one of the grievers had got him.

Zart was gone along with many other Gladers

This is all my fault.

Me and Thomas got to the Med-Jack room and Alby was being carried by Jeff and Clint, " Alby!" Thomas said.

" What is going on," Alby said.

" They are here," I said.

" Grievers,"

I nodded my head and another scream filled the air.

" Thomas what do we do," Jeff said.

" Its got me," A boy yelled and we turned around.

"Everybody run,run,run!" Thomas shouted.

" Jeff, come on, Go Go Go Keep moving, Oh shit," I said.

When we got to the council hall I ran my hands though my hair. " Lock down the door," 

" Careful Stay back guts Is everyone ok," Thomas said.

" Help," Chuck yelled.

" Hey grab him!" I shouted and I grabbed onto Chucks arm and tried to pull him away.

"Help," He cried.

" Chuck," I shouted.

Alby angrily broke the grievers leg that had Chuck. I grabbed Chuck and I pulled him into a hug.

"Chuck are you ok," I said.

" Yeah I am fine Thanks Alby," Chuck said.

"Alby watch out," The griever grabbed Alby.

" Alby No!," We shouted, " Thomas get them out," Alby said to Thomas.

" Alby," I screamed when he was gone.

" He is gone," I said.

" Thomas," Teresa said.

" Thomas don't go out there," I said and followed," No, Thomas, Wait," I said.

We all chased after Thomas. The glade was ruined.

" Where is everybody,"

" Who is that over there?" Jeff said.

" Gally..." Thomas said Gally walked to him and punched him in the face I ran in the middle of the both of them.

" Gally are you insane," I said, I ran and helped Thomas up.

" This is your fault both of you you heard what Alby said They are one of them," Gally said and my heart sank.

"They are one of them and they sent them here to destroy everything and now they have  This is there fault,"

 " Maybe he is right this is my fault," Thomas said.

" Thomas," I said looking at him.

" I am sorry Sophie I need to remember," Thomas said to me .

" Thomas," I said.

Thomas reached for the syringe and plunged it into his stomach dropping to the ground.

"Thomas" I screamed and held him in my arms with tears pouring down.

" No," I whispered.
