Author's Note: Less shipping in this one, but I did do my best to make the story well written. Please do not think I am out of the fandom, I am not, and I can't stop making these! Inspired by Beth Crowley's song called Monster. Specifically the line where it says," I'm turning into a monster, right before your eyes,"

It glistens. Just like the power, the curse, the energy, flowing through his veins and through his fingertips, glowing in the night. In front of him, stood a fox. Blackish blue pelt swayed in the wind, reflecting the glow of the stars. It's teeth bared, snarling, paws against the ground, tails violently flickering in the air, and a low growl is heard.

The one he saw was a fox. Back slightly arched, eyes hissing with power, claws unsheathed. The creature lunges forward, ears flattened at the master, as the creature overshoots, missing by mere centimeters. It retains its balance, saliva dripping from the corners of its mouth.

Who is he?!

Realizations settles in quickly. He knows nothing about the one he assumed was his friend. Or rather, his friend did something foolish. To protect him.

"Ashiya!"

Emotions, boiling over, anger pulsing through his veins. The creature, still aggravated, flinches back. A single tear trickling down it's cheek, making the creature turn and flee into the darkening sky. Before completely running off, it looks at the blonde, and it's eyes glint with fear as it turns away, never bothering to return for the night.

What happened?

He walks into the Mononokean, tired, with a Hairball walking towards him, confused.

"Mononokean, what happened to Ashiya?"

It's hesitant to respond, but rings softly,"Hanae was afraid to tell you. He knew this day would come."

The blonde looks up at the scroll, confusing settling into his prickling skin. Irritation, misinterpretation, anger, sadness, all those bittersweet feelings swirling inside of him.

"What happened to him?" he asks, fear crawling into his voice.

The scroll refuses to respond. It leaves a blank message with the words,"Hanae will tell you himself. It is not my place to say."

What did he do?

The one he needs to see arrives in the classroom at the normal time. However, upon further inspection, he notices sharp fangs in the boy's mouth, just like the day before. Teeth that surged with the capability to tear a person apart, to draw blood with a pinch of its wrath. The boy had bags under his eyes, and was weary, falling asleep the instant he hit his desk.

"Ashiya."

Silence. Nothing but silence pierces the air, as he feels the irritation flicker off of the boy's skin.

Class was over for the day. Both had retreated to the rooftop, with not a word spoken. He tried again.

"Ashiya."

Unresponsive. Pupils forming slits, he gripped the color of the blue haired boy and violently pinned him against the wall, trapping him. Air funneled last him as he felt a sudden rush of blue smoke fly away from where the boy stood.

Ashiya's arms shielded his face, two pointed fox ears from the top of his head, and three sleek tails, shimmering in the sun. His arms pulled down to reveal fear tainted eyes, and tears streaming down the boy's face, as he crumpled to the floor, helpless.

"Ashiya...."

He heard small wails of disbelief from the fox eared boy as he met his eye.

"Ashiya..... what happened?"

Ashiya's three words floated in his head.

"I'm a monster..."

Ashiya had turned into a sobbing mess, his hands digging into his hair, and puddles a tears forming from beneath him. His eyes were bloodshot red and widening, ears flattened, tails against the floor.

"No your'-"

"I'm not?! Don't lie to me." His voice was firm, and he felt driven insane.

Abeno tried to put his hand in Ashiya's shoulder for reassurance, but he felt the person jolt from underneath him.

That wasn't the only time it happened. After that, the incident happened again.... and again.... and again....

"I.... I'm a monster...... Mononokean..... what do I do....." he was barely able to whisper, tears threatening to flow,

"Tell Itsuki, he'll understand, he's worried too."

"I CAN'T! I'M A MONSTER! I COULD HAVE KILLED HIM! HE DOESN'T NEED HIS LIFE THREATENED EVERY SINGLE-"

His voice was cut off by the sound of someone opening a door and wrapping their arms around him.

"You are NOT a monster Hanae."

The person had dug their face into Ashiya's back, as they started to cry.

"Abeno-san..."

The words seem to jab into the fox demon's heart, lacing itself within it. Tears splatter onto his back, the person gripping on tighter.

"But... why?"

How am I not a monster?

Ashiya turned around just as Abeno pulled him closer, embracing him. He pulled Ashiya into his chest and cried.

"Don't ever hide it again..."

Am I, a monster?
