Kohle
5 days passed and Tay was still dead. I felt guilty that I didn't try to stop him. So guilty, I wasn't sleepin'. At night I thought about him takin' his own life and it still didn't make sense. Did he know he was gon' do it the entire 8 hour car ride? Or was it in the heat of the moment? Why did he drive all the way to Nebraska just to put a bullet in his head?
Tay was my best friend. The only friend I had longer than a few months and now, he was gone. He was a few months older than me. Tay was the only person I had to talk to or bullshit with. I had Bay and Natalie but it wasn't the same. If I could go back and stop him from pullin' the trigger, I would. But I couldn't and I couldn't bring him back.
"Are you alright?" Bay's soft, tender voice pulled my head from hell's gates. She was sittin' on Natalie's couch next to me wearin' a purple sundress and her hair flowed down her shoulders. Her belly stuck out further than it did a few days ago. I liked lookin' at it and Natalie's too.
"Yeah, I'm good. Ya'll almost ready?" my eyes wandered over her chubby cheeks and flawless smile. God, she's so beautiful.
"Natalie was just finishin' her and King's hair. They should be done in a minute," as soon as Bay finished talkin', King scurried into the livin' room with Natalie right behind him. My heart quivered. Natalie glanced at me while she ran a hand thru King's afro of golden curls. Every time he moved, so did the curls danglin' on his shoulders. He wore black jeans and a short sleeve Venom t-shirt and his shoes lit up every time he took a step closer to Bay. Natalie had on leggings and a white long sleeve shirt that let me peek at her swollen cleavage. Her hair was similar to King's except it went past her shoulders and stopped in the middle of her back. Bay drooled almost as hard as I did. With sparklin' blue eyes, Natalie blushed and turned her back. She walked into the kitchen and put a few snacks into her purse. My eyes traveled down her body.
"Damn girl." The words escaped my mouth before I could stop them. Bay nodded her head and bit her bottom lip. I loved the attraction they had towards each other. It was sexy as fuck.
Today I was takin' them out with me for the first time. I was excited, nervous and scared but I played it cool. Once we were all in the car, headin' towards the carnival I heard about on the radio, I let myself relax. Natalie sat in the back with King holdin' her hand and Bay sat up front with me, her hand in my lap while she looked outside. She looked like she was deep in thought.
"Mama where we going?" King asked quietly. A smile lingered on my face. Natalie and Bay didn't know where we were goin' and I wanted to keep it that way. The carnival wasn't far, only a ten minute drive but whenever I had King in the car, I drove slower. I didn't want to give Natalie a reason to bitch at me. Especially when I could tell she was a little grumpy.
"Ask Kohle. I don't know," Natalie's reply was halfhearted but King couldn't tell. He kicked the back of my seat with an eager smile.
"Are we going to get a puppy?" he asked with wide eyes visible for the whole county to see. I chuckled and shook my head.
"No buddy. We're almost there."
When I parked the car in the parking lot, I expected King to fall over with excitement. But he looked scared more than anything. The weather was nice enough not to need a jacket but Natalie brought along an extra for King anyway. Bay was quiet most of the ride and kept quiet once we were out the car. I thought King would be jumpin' with joy once he saw the rides and smelled the food but once he laid his eyes on a clown walkin' in front of us, I knew this was a bad idea. Natalie shook her head and chuckled.
