"Loves the dark and fears the light"
I was observing how the moonlight provides light to every flower that is sleeping at night. And then, a little girl showed infront of me. I was shocked when she appeared like a mushroom. I asked her why does a kid like her is roaming in the woods in the middle of the night. But she just stared at me and didn't manage to response. Her neptune-like eyes gave me a frigid feeling; it can make a person drown in curiousity.
She suddenly started to walk away from me so I followed her. She shouldn't be here. It's dangerous for a kid like her to stay in the woods. I think she is lost.
"Forest is not dangerous compare to humans."
I was surprised when she muttered something. It's too way deep for her age.
"Are you lost? Where are your parents?" I asked. I need to bring this kid away from here.
"Darkness is safer than light." she continued.
"Humans feared darkness like it will going to kill them. Like a four years old kid who's scared of monsters that are hiding under their bed, or beasts that they might see in the dark. They are terrified of the dark because they won't be able to see anything. Little did they know, having no light is actually safe. They won't be able to see you. People will lose you in their sight, and so they can't judge you."
"Not unlike when it is too bright. They will see all your flaws and start to focus on the negative things you have. When a beam of light reflects on their eyes, you'll see how the things you lack at becomes a crime in the way they stare. You'll see how they start to calculate things and target your vulnerable part. Then... laugh on it."
"Forest holds the dark that can make us hide-- away from the things that make you feel exhausted. This is different from the place that weakens me. The trees are there when I need a true friend. It offers every part of it to have something to lean on. When my mind is so chaotic the birds will start to sing and the wind plays an orchestra that gives solace. The leaves will join them and dance to the soothing beat. And then, all I can feel is serenity."
"Other kids will be scared to go in the forest. They think that it is a very dangerous place because some animals live there. But it offers home to me, something I didn't feel to people."
I wasn't able to say a word and so I just tapped her head and smiled. Then, an image slowly disappear.
I smiled. It's been ten years and now I'm already twenty one. I crumpled the paper stating that an eleven years old kid was lost. The paper was easily torn apart since time had passed it by. I didn't regret to stay in the forest. Alone but I didn't feel lonely. I chose to love the darkness. And I'll stay here, an obscure place. I'll still prefer to stay in the shadow of woods.
