It took 4 weeks of persuasion and prayer for Emery's plan to work out. I prayed everyday that God would somehow work this all out and he answered in just the way we had hoped. It slowly came together and Emery was given permission to come live with Taylor and I.
On September 4th, Taylor and I said hello to the newest addition to our little family. Emery seemed very excited. Probably the most excited I'd seen her in a long time. I was excited too because that meant that I would become like a mom to Emery. I would be able to help her and show her the joy of a close relationship with God.
As Emery took her things up to her room I went into the kitchen and made sure I had all of the papers and things I needed to keep a good record of Emery's progress and counseling sessions. The doctors had recommended that we have a system for keeping records of our day and what all happens. This would help us with the keeping a consistent plan of action.
After about 10 minutes I walked upstairs to our room to see of Emery needed help unpacking. I walked in and her and Taylor are standing there, Hugging each other. I'm not someone who loves hugs but this was different. I wrapped my arms around both of them and realized Emery was crying and saying "Thank you". It must be for the bible, I thought. I smiled.
"Your welcome Em," Taylor answered her. I just hugged them tighter.
