Summer came and that meant summer camp was in full swing. I was excited to hear that Emery was going to be working again. I continued to pray for her everyday and I asked a few of the other full time staff to pray too. A few weeks went by and I was so busy with LDP that I didn't get much time to even see Emery much less talk to her. Finally we had a midsummer party and I had some time to talk to Em.
"So how's it been going?" I asked her.
"I feel so much happier now that I'm here!" Emery answered with a smile on her face, "I wish I could always be here. I feel like I'm actually getting better."
"What do you mean getting better?" I questioned.
"I feel like God cares for me which makes me feel like I don't always have to throw up the food I eat. I feel beautiful here."
"Wow, that's great Em." I exclaimed, with a huge smile on my face. I was so happy that she was finally feeling better again. I had been praying and God had finally started working.
"Jess," Emery said, "I had an idea. What if I could live at camp?"
"What do you mean?" I asked her.
"I mean like live at camp so that I could recover and go through some kind of "counseling" or something like that."
"I don't know how that would work, Em," I replied a bit sceptical.
"Don't you stay at camp all winter?" She asked.
"Well yes, but I don't know what the camp director's will think of that."
"You want me to get better right?" she asked. I nodded."Well then this would be the best way to help me get better. This is more like a home to me than anywhere else. I wouldn't be staying here for free either. I'll help out around camp and help get ready for groups and all that. I feel like God is telling me that this is where I need to be," Emery said.
"Well... I'll talk to the camp directors and see what we can do. Don't get your hopes up though Em, this is going to be a hard thing to convince your parents and probably the doctors of. We'll have to pray hard that this works," I replied. Emery just smiled.
