Welcome back young hermits to, Henry the Hermits Survival School. Today we will be going over rule #2, make sure to have shelter. It can get cold, hot, rainy, and snowy.

Shelter is crucial for survival out here, and make sure it can stand in the weather. If you make a house like me, where its a small 8x8x12 rock shack, cover the sides with mud and put moss on the roof.

I used to have a log cabin, but now I have a shack made out of grey, and tan colored slabs of rock that I dug out from the side of the mountain across the river.

Why should I put mud on the cabin? You may ask, because it will help if there is a fire. How do I know this? Story Time!!!

This was back when it was my first year as a hermit, I had just finished my log shack in early August, I was ready for winter. I was so proud of myself for accomplishing such an important cornerstone for my adventure.

The shack was an 8x8x12 with a moss roof, and a door made of tied together driftwood and mud to fill in the holes. It was a really nice shack, perfect for me and perfect for any weather that may come this way.

So after I had finished this I built a fire and had roasted rabbit for dinner to celebrate this accomplishment. So of course I had a fire going about five yards away from my house. That's when a monster came out from the bushes, a chipmunk popped out and got by the fire to warm his little chubby body, at first I thought he was cute so I thought he would be fine sitting there.

After about a hour the chipmunk was still there just gazing into the fire, I turned around to grab some more sticks and he was gone. That's when I started to smell some strong smoke. I looked at my shack and it was on fire!

I saw the wee devil standing there smiling, I saw a trail of ash behind him that went from the fire to my shack. He had taken a hot coal, and put it on moss and dragged it over to my shack and caught it on fire.

That's when the war started, I vowed to never trust a chipmunk again, they aren't harmless creatures they're the devils soldiers.

So this is why you must make sure your house or whatever is fortified for anything and everything.

Well, that's all for today enjoy these lessons and until next time, this is Henry the Hermit saying goodbye and good luck out there young hermits!
