Here's Part 2. Enjoy.
"Any sign of our friends, Rocket?" you ask the talking raccoon through the comm link. You, Mantis, and Groot were combing through the ship's database on the natives creatures that lived on the planet you guys were stranded on; Rocket in the meantime was hoping to find Drax, Peter, and Gamora and keep them distracted long enough to find something to cure whatever was ailing the three and making them go savage.
"Actually I wasn't paying attention," Rocket admits, "Right now I'm looking for that mallet so I can bop our friends without hurting them too bad." "Well keep your ears open," you direct, "And be careful." "Aren't I always?" Rocket snubs before resuming the search for his mallet.
"Alright, let's see what we're looking at," you say as you start typing on the computer, "Friends, glazed eyes, eating people, ugly teeth, search, search, search." "I am Groot," Groot snorts. "I am not a lousy typist," you retort, "I'm just concerned for our friends well being at the moment. Now I just need to add the planet we're on and hopefully it'll narrow it down."
Sure enough the ship's database pulled up a few reports in a matter of seconds. The first one you looked up revealed pictures of some vicious looking mole-like creatures. "Is that the creature that bit Drax?" Mantis asks with concern. "It looks like these creatures, while they don't have an official name, they often referred to as 'night biters.'" "I am Groot?" Groot seemed confused. "According to this, they're nocturnal, carnivorous animals who burrow underground and pop out to catch their prey," you explain, "There's a lot of lore behind them, some stories say they were once people who only transform into these things at the peak of the full moon.""Sounds like those creatures Peter has mentioned in those movies," Mantis comments, "Were something." "Were-wolves," you correct, "They may not be that far off. It appears that whenever someone is bitten by these night biters, they undergo some sort of biological transformation." "Chemical?" Mantis asks for clarification. "Something about the infection from the bite going through the bloodstream and making its way to the brain," you read the reports a little closer, "they essentially become the creatures they were bitten by. And they themselves can spread the infection to others by biting too." "I am Groot! I am Groot!" Groot frantically points to what he was reading. "Uh oh," you say as you read the same thing. "What is it?" Mantis asks again. "If the infection stays in them for too long, it could become permanent," you read, "And they'll remain that way until the infection eventually eats away at their brains and kills them." "Well, there has to be some sort of cure," Mantis points out. "I am Groot?" Groot suggests. "We're not going to help Rocket bop our friends to death with a giant mallet," you scold the little tree, "We can still cure them before it's too late. It looks like a sample of blood from the night biters, when injected into the infected person, can alter the chemical structure and reverse the effects of the bite. All we need now is a night biter." "I am Groot?" Groot frowns.
"I think I may have an idea," you look at some fluffy material laying around at one part of the cockpit, "Mantis, you can use your empathic powers on them right?" "I never met a being I couldn't use them on," Mantis nods. "Good," you nod back, "Cause we're gonna need them more than ever."--------Meanwhile---------
"Where's that damn mallet?" Rocket grumbles as he searches through one of the drawers in his room before checking under the bed, "How am I suppose to bop Quill or Drax without my mallet?" Rocket reaches his hand under the bed, only to pull it away in pain at the snap of a mouse trap, "That's not my mallet!" he exclaims yanking the trap off. He reaches in again and pulls out a bomb he made himself and had lost a couple weeks ago, "Huh, I wonder where that went to," he shrugs before tossing it aside to search under the bed again, "Finally, I found me mallet," Rocket happily says pulling said object out.
Right on cue, Drax pops out from the ground. Rocket instinctively whacks the mallet, and Drax dives back down into the hole before the mallet could make contact.
