| JUNGKOOK'S POV |
"JEON JUNGKOOK!" A booming voice yelled, waking me completely from my half slumbered state. My eyes shot open as I clung tighter onto my sister, whimpering slightly.
I recognized the voice to be that of my father's, and as my eyes adjusted to the dim lighting, I could see that he was holding a slipper up menacingly, his eyes cold and angry. "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN THE WHOLE NIGHT, WHEN I ASKED YOU TO COME HOME EARLY TODAY?" He roared again, the booming voice seeming to make the walls vibrate.
I could feel tears prickle my eyes, blurring my vision as I cast my gaze down. "Father..., he was just beaten up," I heard Y/N say softly from beside me, rubbing my arm to try and calm me down. "And you, Y/N," Father growled, but in a much softer and lower tone. "Where have you been?"
"I went to pick Jungkook up from the hospital because you were busy, remember?" She asked innocently, controlling her voice to make it sound sweet, just the way father liked it. I could see father's stance softening, though I was still quivering with fear.
"You," Father spat, pointing an accusing finger at me. I leaned back slightly. "How did you manage to get hurt again? I thought I told you to stay out of trouble!" His voice grew gradually louder with every word as each of them made me feel and fear his wrath more.
I still looked down, not wanting to say the wrong thing to trigger him more. I was pondering about how to answer him when-
"ANSWER ME!" His sudden shout made me jump out of my skin, as Y/N walked in front of me in defense, a hard look gracing her features. "He-" She started to defend m, but was interrupted by none other than our dad. "I want him to answer me." His voice was firm, something Y/N couldn't go against. She looked back at me in encouragement, trying to get me to save myself.
"I-I was walking home," I started, my voice shaky. "But then t-the jocks f-found m-me..." I whispered the end, my voice trembling as tears started to pour down my shirt.
"I thought I told you to BE STRONG and DEFEND YOURSELF! That's the only thing I demand of you, yet you never can follow. WHY CAN'T YOU BE LIKE YOUR SISTER?" He bellowed, pushing Y/N to the side as he grabbed onto the collar of my shirt, holding me up. I winced as his hand grazed my neck, which was badly bruised.
He seemed to notice my pain and looked down onto my neck. Grunting, he dropped me onto the floor. "Go to bed," He muttered, and when I didn't move, he shouted again. "NOW!"
Without hesitating, I scrambled up and ran up the stairs two at a time, trying to hold in my sobs until I reached my room. When I slammed open my door, however, I found a silhouette of someone sitting on my bed.
My heart pounded frantically and I was about to run back downstairs when the figure smiled at me, and there was just enough light to illuminate the figure I recognized to be of Kim Taehyung, the boy I met earlier at the hospital.
The moonlight made half of his face visible, as I saw the warmth and kindness in his eyes, and his mouth was parted slightly, before stretching out into a small and warm smile.
"Please, don't fear me," he whispers, beckoning me to sit next to him. "I promise I won't hurt you, I'm just here to help."
Feeling as though I was in a trance, the logic faded off my mind, and I felt the urge to walk over to him and comply, though there were faint warning bells sounding in my head, telling me that this wasn't normal and that I should run.
But where would I go? If I went down, my father would surely get to me again. I was lucky enough this time to escape, though I had left Y/N alone there to deal with him, a pang of guilt hitting at my chest.
Not thinking of it more, my legs shook slightly from overuse and I found myself walking to the bed, as I sat quietly and softly down beside him. An aura of peace and calm settled over me as I felt his warm hand grasp mine, making mine warmer.
"So," He started, his voice velvety and deep as he rubbed my hand soothingly, an angelic smile on his lips. "Would you like to talk, or just stay here in the silence?" His eyes were soft as he awaited my answer.
I didn't reply but relaxed into his hold as the warmth gradually spread through my body, making me feel comforted and safe. "Okay," He mused, his smile still not faltering. "I guess I'll just talk instead."
He took one of his hands off mine and pointed to the bed. "Please, lie down," he suggested. "I know you're very tired, so it would be the best choice for you." Feeling the ache in my back, I lay down slowly and stretched out a bit so he could also have space on my bed.
"Now, I'm sorry for intruding into your home, as I know you're probably seeking answers as to why I'm here," He said, chuckling. His hand was now running through my hair, and I closed my eyes, humming in response.
"I'm actually here to... protect you, in a sense," he explained. I furrowed my brows with my eyes still closed. Protect me? What did he mean by that? "I'm here to make sure that you don't get hurt, and I'll keep you safe until I'm no longer needed." He elaborated. His other hand joined his first one on my head as he massaged it gently.
"And as for how I got in..., you won't need to know that. What you should know, is that I'm always going to be here to help you and guide you on the right path. Understand?" His hands ventured down my head to my shoulders, and I waited for him to continue to speak until I realized he was waiting for my response.
"Okay," I mumbled, not sure if it was loud enough for him to hear. It apparently was, though, because he continued to speak.
"Now... I can't tell you many details," He hesitated, contemplating what to say next. "But I'm not exactly a normal person. I can... do things that normal people don't do, and I help people to make sure they are on the right paths, doing the right thing." His hands massaged my shoulders, loosening the tension there.
"I mean no harm to you, but please know that you'll be seeing me quite a bit until you're okay again. I'll be here all night if you need me, and I'll help you any way I can." His voice made me feel soothed and safe, a feeling only a few people in my life could manage to achieve. My breaths felt heavier as I felt sleep coming onto me fast, and I heard him let out a low chuckle.
"I see that you're tired, Jungkook, so I'm going to help you sleep better tonight," Sighing gently, the rubs softened as he opened his mouth, but this time, not to speak.
"꽃들이 가득한 거리에 오늘도 그대를 보네요," He sang and surprised me with how good his voice sounded. "내 안에 담겨질까요?"
The melody was soft, and it was a song that I had never heard of before. "새벽달이 지난 공원에 지금 내 감정을 담아요, 이 노랜 그댈 향해요." His voice was deep and mellow but still managed to hit all the higher notes with a soft quality. "밤하늘 달에게 비춰진 필름의 소리를 들어요."
"I still wonder, wonder beautiful story," He sang with passion, an energy that you couldn't hear in many singers these days. "Still wonder, wonder best part," Listening to the meaning of the song, I found myself in awe at the deep meanings behind the lyrics. "I still wander, wander next story,"
Hitting the high notes with a soft quality, I found myself being lulled to sleep, but not before I heard the last phrase of the song.
"I want to make you mine."
