Jungkook smoothens the creases on his uniform as he walks onwards to school, feeling squeamish as he thinks about what had happened just a couple of days ago.
Now, he would have to face those boys again.
He had been up all night the day before thinking of ways he could try and avoid them, but only getting frustrated when he turned up with nothing. If he was lucky, maybe he could run home fast enough and not get caught, but Jungkook knew his own luck.
It was shit.
And that was why Jungkook had completely forgotten about ironing his shirt, making him look like even more of a mess than usual. At least he had gotten out of the house in one piece, with his backpack and books. But he hadn't had time to make a lunch, and he didn't bring any money to buy one either.
Jungkook sighs. It seemed today was another day where he would have to go hungry.
As he paces on, the school building soon comes into his sight, and he can see all his classmates, walking together in pairs and groups, chatting without a care in the world. He gulps, casting his gaze downwards, staring at his shoes.
He felt lonely. Really, really lonely.
He had friends when he was younger. He was sure about that. But as he grew older, the memories of them faded, and they all had either moved out of Korea, changed schools or even just stopped talking to him, until they were all basically strangers to him.
But that was okay. It had to be okay. He was fine with being lonely.
But you do have a friend, his subconscious brings up.
Right. The cool guy with black wings who he had mistaken for a demon. Sure he was his friend.
He was still willing to talk to you on hours on end, the echo of his thoughts whispers in his head hopefully.
Jungkook shakes his head, not allowing the positive thinking to take over his rationale. The angel probably just felt bad and wanted to help him. They weren't friends.
After dumping his textbooks inside his locker and grabbing everything he would need for his classes, Jungkook heads to his homeroom for first period grudgingly, wishing he could be outside and not trapped inside the hellhole of a school.
But just as he opens the door and looks inside,
He makes eye contact with him.
Kim Taehyung.
The boy is surrounded by everybody in his class, even the popular, richer and snobby girls. They all gushed over him, trying to catch his attention with flirts and jokes, yet Taehyung only had eyes for Jungkook. Jungkook's mouth drops open in shock and all Taehyung gives in return is a boxy grin.
Taehyung jumps off the table he's sitting on, causing the girls to gasp and part to the sides, allowing Taehyung a clear path to walk away. The boys in his class are staring at the angel, dumbfounded as to how he managed to have majority of the girls in his class get crushes within just a few seconds.
"Jungkook ah!" Taehyung chimes joyfully, walking to his side and patting his head. "How are you?"
"V?" Jungkook gapes, eyes as wide as softballs. "What are you doing here?"
Taehyung winks at Jungkook. "You should call me Taehyung here. That's the name I registered as, you won't believe how easy it was to get in! All I had to do was look the office lady up and down, biting my lip, and she practically threw the admission forms at me! It was amazing-"
Jungkook tugs on Taehyung's arm, harshly dragging him out of the classroom as the rest of the class merely watches in amazement. "Where are we going?" Taehyung questions, frowning at the boy as he's dragging through the hallways of the school. Like moths drawn to a lamp, the student population can't help but stare at the two boys as they dash down the hall.
"Somewhere more private." Is all that Jungkook snaps as he practically manhandles Taehyung, pushing him lightly into the smelliest, foulest boys toilet of the school.
The toilet could compete for the Guiness World Records for foulest place on earth, but Jungkook never bothered submitting an application, knowing it wouldn't look good on his record for the school. It was stained with spray paint, the walls seemed to be slimy, almost, the once baby blue tiles faded to a murky green.
And the smell. God, it smelled even worse than hell, Taehyung thought, pinching his fingers to his nose. What human would willingly go to a place like this?
"What on earth is this place?" Taehyung complains loudly. Jungkook crosses his arms, seemingly unaffected by the smell.
"The worst part of our school. Welcome." Jungkook remarks sarcastically. "Now care to explain what you're doing here?"
It wasn't that Jungkook was pissed at Taehyung. In fact, he was ecstatic that someone, who had treated him like a genuine friend, would finally be attending his school. Yet, it was strange, and Jungkook couldn't help but feel suspicious of his actions.
"I'm attending school with you, dummy," Taehyung states, as though it's the most obvious thing in the world. "What else would I be doing here?"
"Aren't you an angel?" Jungkook hisses. "Angels are meant to be in heaven, right? Not loitering around at one of the worst schools in Seoul! It doesn't make sense!"
Taehyung sighs, seemingly wanting to take a seat on the ground, but instantly changing his mind, eyeing the moldy yellow substance on the floor with wary.
"I'm your guardian angel, Jeon, and for your information, not all angels just hang around in heaven, alright? I'm here for you, and since you attend this school I have to as well."
Well, that was a white lie. Technically, Taehyung didn't have to attend school with him, but he wanted to. For some reason, some gut feeling (do angels even have guts) in him was telling him that he should probably go wherever Jungkook went, just to keep an eye on him.
Plus, it was always a benefit to learn more about human life... right?
"This place is disgusting," Taehyung adds, making a face as he takes in the terrible condition of the toilet. "Why do you humans even make these places?"
Jungkook's still eyeing Taehyung with narrowed eyes, but he answers nevertheless. "It was meant to be a toilet, but... people mostly use it to do drugs and... inappropriate things nowadays." He says hastily, wondering if Taehyung knew about the more sinful crimes that students would commit.
Also known as public sex.
"I've never been to hell, but god, this place good give it a run for it's money," Taehyung coughs dramatically, placing a hand on Jungkook's shoulder for support. "Can we go somewhere else, please?"
Jungkook twitches his mouth. "Only if you promise to let me ask you more questions."
Taehyung nods enthuastically. "Anything to get out of this place."
Jungkook stays quiet, still giving him a mistrustful gaze. Taehyung groans. "I've got no shady intentions going on here, I swear!" He says, raising both arms. "Just an innocent angel strolling by!"
He finally gives in and laughs, grabbing Taehyung's hand. "Alright then. Let's get out of this stinkin' toilet."
Taehyung grins, and allows himself to be dragged out once again by the human.
