Linda

The three stared at the lift, unsure whether to take it or not. Sammy told them that everything was in Susie's command, including the elevator, and if she wanted she would drop them to their death. Linda watched Henry and Sammy fuss over how they would handle the situation with a glint of amusement. The two had been bickering nonstop for the past hour, and it was getting annoying fast.

"You know, she wants us to find her, right?" Linda said after almost five minutes of the boys' arguing. They stopped talking and looked at her with surprised faces.

"Really? I must have gotten the wrong message, 'cause I'm pretty sure it sounded like she wants us dead," Henry said, but it was mostly pointed at Sammy. He glared at him.

"It could have meant anything," Sammy shot back, bending down to hiss in Henry's face.

"My God, you two! Just get in the elevator!" Linda shouted. She shoved past the two and stopped in the center of the lift with her arms crossed, tapping her foot.

"Linda," Henry hissed. "Get out of there!"

"No! I'm getting tired of you two telling me what and what not to do! You've been fighting ever since we left the safehouse, and that was three days ago! I want to make my own decisions for once, thank you very much!"

Henry and Sammy gaped at her. Henry elbowed Sammy and whispered, "She's mine, not yours, bucko."

When all three were on the lift, the speakers screeched on.

"Look at that," Susie said. "You three are quite the persistent bunch, aren't you? Now let's put you to the test: come visit me on Level 9. I've got a little job for you."

The lift jumped to a start, moving downwards.

"Just like old times, eh, Sammy? Up for another date with your angel?"

Sammy put his head down. Henry glanced at him and looked up, probably guessing that Susie could see them.

"That's gonna be a problem," he said to her, patting Sammy on the back. Sammy looked at him, puzzled.

"It is?" Sammy and Susie both asked in unison.

"Sure! You see, Sammy's already got his eyes on an angel."

Henry winked at Sammy. Linda shook her head and rubbed her temples in annoyance. She shouldn't had told Henry about Sammy's feelings for Norman.

"Shut up," Sammy said to Henry between gritted teeth.

"Really? Who?"

"None of your business," Sammy snapped. Then he grabbed Henry by the bowtie and spat, "You need to learn when to keep your mouth shut."

"Hey, I'm a demon. Troublemaking's in my veins!" Henry said, shrugging innocently.

"Some excuse."

Before the two could make any more snarky remarks, the lift jerked to a stop. The doors slid open, allowing them to step out and observe the setting before them. While Sammy and Henry hissed at each other during their walk down the stairs, Linda decided to take a faster route. She had four arms, so why not put them to use? She leaped down and landed on her toes, nearly falling over, but she quickly regained balance.

"Showoff," Sammy growled, playfully nudging her forwards. She slapped him on the back in return.

"Almost there," Susie sang through the speakers. The huge doors before them rumbled and slid open slowly, shaking the whole floor when it stopped. Ahead the hall was dark and quiet.
