Chapter 10

John's Pov

I lean in and kiss her. Immediately she pulls away. "Uh um I-um" I stutter out. Fuck. I messed up. "John.. I don't know how to say this," she says looking at me, "I'm gay.." she finishes. "Oh" I look at the floor. "Hey, we can still be friends." She smiles. I focus back on the movie. She puts a hand on my shoulder. "I'm sure you'll find someone amazing who will love you so much. Just not me." I feel tears burn at my eyes. "I'm gonna go to the bathroom" I say getting up from my seat. I walk to the bathroom. When I get there I splash water onto my face. Sobs come from behind me. I walk towards the sobs. I see the person curled up into a ball. Knees to his chest as he cries into them. They don't seem to notice me. I take a Smeet next to them. "Hard day, huh?" I ask I tear falling down my face. His head shoots ups to look at me. Jaren? "Y-yeah" He says looking down at his lap again. "What happened?" I ask concerned. "Uh just a sad scene in a movie." He says but it's almost like he's lying. "Yeah those sad scenes really hit ya" I say with a smile. "He starts laughing. I'm glad I could make him happy. "Where you crying?" He asks. "Oh uh.. nothing really.. just something stupid.." I say rubbing the back of my neck. "It's not if it made you cry" he mumbles. "We should get off this dirty floor" I say with a laugh, pulling myself up. I help him stand to his feet and we walk out together. "Hey! There you are John. I was wondering if you had ditched me." Christine says. "About earlier.." I start. "John.." she looks to me. "Can we just forget it?" I ask. She smiles and nods. I turn to looks Jaren but end up spinning in a circle trying to find him. He's gone. He must have left while me and Christine were talking. "You ready to go?" Christine asks.
