Chapter One

Oh she's sweet but a psycho, a little bit psycho

◾️

"Miss Phoe!? Miss Phoe?! Is it true you are going to be in a new and upcoming movie with Mr Cumberbatch?" A reporter said to me as I walked down the street with Frankie and my bodyguard.

I chuckled and waved at their cameras, "a lady never tells" I winked at the camera, whipping my wavy red hair away from my face.

More questioned were being thrown at me but my bodyguard managed to keep everyone at bay.

Frankie, my manager, and old family friend  pulled open the door to a Starbucks for me, instantly I was welcomed by people shouting my name.

Phoe Phoe ! Phoenix!

The British fan base I have developed over the years was definitely overwhelming to the point I had to get a bodyguard for myself even with my personal training.

I never believed I would have made it this far in just a year of blowing up. I'm local as of now but I will be making movies soon in the states. So it will be back home for me.

I changed names throughout the years. From Colin to Mystique to Phoenix. Why? I'm not sure. But I am known as Mystique still because of my red hair and amber eyes.

It's been two years since the incident. But it feels like it was just yesterday. I've been too busy as of late so it hasn't really crossed my mind.

"Your usual?" Frankie asked me. I nodded my head then waved to the baristas who were starring at me in shock.

Stephen, my body guard leaned into my ear to say something to me over the screaming fans from outside.

"Your phone is ringing, do you want to check it?" He asked.

"Please" I turned to him as he placed my phone in my open palm. I looked down seeing the silly photo of Tom I had for his contact photo.

"Is it that Holland boy?" Stephen asked.

"Yuuup" I chuckled then answered my phone.

"Yes Tommy?" I said into the phone, "hey Phoe Phoe!!!" Holland practically squealed like a child.

"Hi" I chuckled then looked up at the cashier asking Frankie if she can have a photo with us.

"Sure" Frankie said turning to me. "One second Tommy" I said to him then quickly posed for the picture as the girl turned around and positioned her phone in her hand in selfie mode with Frankie, Stephen and myself.

"Thank you!" The girl squealed.

"I'm back" I picked up my phone again.

"Crazy fans?" He asked.

"Just fans Tommy" I chuckled. "Welcome to popularity. It has its ups and downs" he chuckled.

Frankie's generosity to the cashier ended up back firing because all of the baristas stopped what they were doing to come around to take a photo with me and my crew, which resulted in whoever was waiting for their drinks, to wait longer, and whoever didn't get a photo with us, ended up in anger.

"Sounds like you are in quite the pickle, do you wish for me to leave you?" He asked. "Let's go" Stephen said picking me up bridal style, Frankie got in front of him to make way for our exit. We didn't even get my drink because we were focused on getting out of there. I say we as if I did anything but it counts, I was giggling but managed to say no to Tom.

Many pictures were captured in that moment, of my body guard carrying me out.

"Aaaaaannnd paparazzi photos" Tom chuckled into the phone.

"What do you mean?! It's literally been a few seconds" I chuckled as Stephen placed me in Frankie's Escalade, "well, people were live streaming your interaction in Starbucks, aaaand there goes Stephen picking you up, you look oh so tiny" he teased me.

Frankie and Stephen tuned out my conversation but I knew Stephen was secretly listening. He always does. He is like the male version of me. Very stoic, over protective and super skilled. But the only difference was he is so incredibly built, wears fancy suits, and has several tattoos and a piercing in his eyebrow. I always tease him telling him I'm going to end up ripping that out on accident.

Stephen has the darkest brown eyes I've ever laid eyes on, sun kissed skin, very muscly, which is out of view when he wears his tuxes, he's super caring, puts me before him, but he can get a little jealous. He's a little older than I am, I'm 25 he's 35 but doesn't look a day over 30. His looks are a little mature but none of that ruins his looks.

He's described as "perfect" according to the fans and always suspect us of having a relationship. Claiming we are made for each other.

My thoughts were interrupted by Tom giggling, "What?" I chuckled. "Oh sorry, Tessa, is being silly, she misses you!" He said to me.

"And I miss Tessa" I awed, "We must hang out again, Tessa would love that" he chuckled, "sounds great, I'll be there tomorrow" I replied earning a quick glare from Stephen through the rear view mirror.

"Great! Meaning you can also make it to the party I'm having" He pipped.
"Sneaky, Tom" I giggled.

"Very much so" he chuckled.

"But I'll let you go, you have a crowd to flee from, according to this live stream you're stuck in traffic" he laughed.

"Stop watching me!" I laughed as well.

"Okay okay! Sorry! Bye! See you tomorrow!" He shouted back while laughing, I said my goodbyes too then hung up.

"Tomorrow?" Stephen cranked his neck to turn around to me. "Yes, Stephen, Tom has invited us to a party he is having"

Frankie glanced at me with a smile, "I am not much of a party person so, you and Stephen can go, I have work with your mother anyways" Frankie said.

"Speaking of mom, Stephen I have a couple weeks off starting next week, so let's go to the states to see my parents" I said to my bodyguard.

"As you wish" he turned back around to face forward how he previously was.

"And you just started but you really do need a break, you are a very anxious person, I don't want you crumbling now do I?" Frankie glanced at me again. "I hope not" I chuckled then looked out the window as we drove to where we were going. At this point we weren't even sure if we were being followed and we didn't care, Frankie knows how to lose people who follow us.

The thought of going back to the states has me shaking, I haven't been there since I started my career. I went back to change my name legally and for paperwork I needed for my residency here in the UK, I'm not completely a citizenship but hopefully working towards that. But then again I do not actually want to live here. This was just me running away, but now it's me living a dream I had since I was very young. And even though I gained fame, I feel somehow calm, calmer than I was before. I saw myself change. I went from a stoic bitch to a happy woman, a woman I haven't seen before.

It's life changing and I love it so far, my demons still haunt me however, in my dreams or in what's around me. Especially when I see the face of the man who hurt me when going to movie premiers, on the news or just in photos.

Everyday I fight hard to forget but how could I ever forget something like that?
