Faira POV
Ever since Chara and I have moved here, I've taken a liking to the village. It's much more peaceful and simple compared to the city we were in last time. Another difference is we only run into raiders, a few rogue monsters and giant rogue monsters out here when compared to the city, they were attacked every day by robbers, crazy people, crooked policeman... I could go on. However, I don't want to.
I guess I forgot to mention we also run into a few anomalies here and there too. Anomalies are unpredictable, we never know when one will show up. They can range from complete enigmas, to shapes shifters, to who knows what? Which reminds me... The phantom outside the house isn't being very incognito.
It's been staring through the window into my room, at me for at least an hour or two by now. Can't it take a hint that I can see it? This thing is starting to weird me out. No phantom ever stands and stares at people, oh no. That means it's a shapeshifter.
Damnit. Shapeshifters are absolute HELL to deal with. One minute they'll look all innocent, the next minute they're trying to rip your stomach or face open. Too grotesque? Too bad, this is the world and reality we live in.
Kill or be killed, that's how this world works. I decided to look back out the window to see it was gone. Oh shit. That wasn't good at all. That thing could anywhere, taking on the form of anything.
The only thing it can't take form of is me at the current moment. The reason for this? Shapeshifters have a rule where if a person or thing has seen it, it can not take on the form of said thing or person. That is the shapeshifters' most common and known rule. A scream and a crash is what followed.
I ran out of the house to see Chara, but upon closer inspection I noticed that, that was NOT Chara. Its eyes were red, its cheeks grey, and I knew all too well that it was the shapeshifter. I quickly signaled for everyone to get out of the area and luckily, they did so. The shapeshifter turned its steely gaze towards me, and lunged forward. Let the games begin bitch.
