Mon-el's POV
Her eyes started glinting with tears.
"What?" I asked. "I died?"
"You were killed." She said. "You gave yourself up to save J'onn when we were fighting Reign, and she killed you," Kara paused, "Right in front of me."
I didn't know what to say.
"I abandoned my morals and tried to kill Reign, but I got an idea so I took the Legion ring off your finger, and I flew into a disruption to fix my mistakes. To bring you back. And Sam. And my mother."
"Kara, if I had known-"
"Mon-el, your hand was so cold." She said, voice cracking. A tear fell from her eye. "It was only moments after you had died, but your hand was already--" she paused, shuddering, "so cold."
She looked me in the eyes. Her were so blue, so sad.
"And all I could think about was how I should've held your hand more, or at least have been closer to you, spent more time with you."
She quickly wiped a tear away. "I have lost you, over and over again." She said. "But the one thing that kept me going-- the one thing that kept me for breaking-- was knowing at the very least, you were alive."
I stepped closer to her, reaching the tuck her hair from her face, but she backed away. I just wanted to keep her from hurting.
"I would rather sacrifice myself and know you're alive, know no one else had to die than be alive and know that I let you die." she paused. "You may be okay with losing me, but I'm not ready to lose you."
"You think leaving you was easy?" I asked her.
"You have a wife! Someone to go back to." She looked down at her feet. "You have nothing left in this time that matters."
Had a wife. She didn't know that we separated.
"You think there's nothing here that matters? You matter to me, Kara!"
"As what? A friend? Did you ever stop to think that there was never a point where I stopped loving you? We didn't break up, one day you just came back with a wife!"
I stopped to look at her. She just realized what words left her lips, a look of regret on her face. Never a point where I stopped loving you.
"You never stopped loving me?" I asked. She was flustered.
"It doesn't matter anymore, ok? You've moved on, and I'm accepting that," She said. She sounded like she was trying to convince herself, too.
"Imra and I are not--" I started saying, but I looked to her upper arm. Blood was spreading into the sleeve of her jacket. "Oh my Rao, Kara, your arm"
She uncrossed her arms and looked at her shoulder. "Damn it!" She said under her breath.
I rushed toward her, trying to help, but she yanked her arm away.
"What happened? I thought the sunlamps healed you?"
"It's not from Kryptum." She said, sitting down and taking her jacket off revealing a short sleeve, black T-shirt.
Her arm was wrapped in blood-soaked bandages. She started to unwrap the bandages, revealing three gashes in her upper arm.
"Kara, what the hell happened?" I asked again sitting down next to her on the bench.
"Ugh, there must still be some Kryptonite in the cut." She said under her breath once again, ripping her jacket to create another bandage.
"Kryptonite? I'm getting Alex," I said starting to get up, but she grabbed my arm and sat me back down.
"No!" She yelled. "Alex cannot know, got it? No one in the DEO knows."
"Alex doesn't know?" I said, worried. "Kara, you gotta tell me what happened."
"I'm not your problem anymore, Mon-el." She said, wrapping her arm.
"You're Supergirl, and you're bleeding. This is a huge problem!" I told her, but she ignored me.
"I can take care of myself, and besides," She finished wrapping her arm. "I'll be dead in a few days anyway."
"Wait, a few days? When does Kryptum want to kill you?" I only had her for a few more days.
She paused, thought for a moment. "The day after the summer solstice," Kara said. She looked in my direction. I studied her face. Crinkle.
Kara looked up at me one last time and started walking toward the window. I stood up but didn't follow her.
"You need to go back to the future Mon-el, and just forget about me. It's the best thing for both of us" She said, facing the window. She turned back to me. I could see a tear forming on the edge of her eyelash. "But for what it's worth, it was nice to see you again."
I tried to speak, but before I knew it she gave me a weak smile and flew out of the window.
I stood there in the empty training room. Kara was going to die, but I wasn't ready to lose her again. She needed to know how I still feel about her.
