Kara's POV

Friends and family filed into the med-bay for hours after I had woken up. I had literally come back from the dead, and the sadness in everyone was quickly replaced with relief. Mon-el eventually stepped out of the room so I could have some moments with Alex and Eliza, but to be honest, after all the time away from him, I just wanted to be with Mon-el.

It was pretty late at night when people started settling down, and it was only Alex, who was doing a quick check-up on me, and Mon-el in the room.

"You should stay here for the night," Alex told me as she took the stethoscope out of her ears. "Usually,  for humans, I would suggest a week or two in the hospital, but because your powers are back you'll be able to heal faster. I think by tomorrow you should be able to sit up and walk around."

"That sound's awesome," I said smiling. "I really miss my bed. Concrete is not comfy at all." I chuckled, Alex and Mon-el shifted uneasily.

"Well," Alex started, quickly brushing my cheek with the back of her hand. "Just get some rest. I'm going to go home, but I'm coming here first thing in the morning. Bye Kara."

"Bye," I replied.

She quickly smiled saying bye to Mon-el as well. Mon-el and I were alone now, finally. After all we've been through, I was excited to just talk with him.

"What a day," he said sighing, "but I'm thankful you're okay." He grinned grabbing my hand.

"Me too," I said, squeezing his hand in return.

He paused for a moment, thinking of what to say next. "Hey, Kara, I need to tell you something."

"I know you and Imra aren't together anymore," I told him.

"How?" He asked, surprised.

"When I---when I died, I saw you. I know it sounds crazy, but it's like the voice I was hearing in my head had materialized in front of me, and he just gave me reasons to come back to you."

"Huh," he said. "What did he say?"

"Well he said that all you wanted to do was to come back to me," I said smiling.

"That is very true!" He laughed, staring into my eyes. I missed seeing him so happy, so close to my face. His eyes were like the color of the ocean after a storm, deep gray-blue. His face relaxed and he tucked my hair behind my ear, resting his hand on the side of my face. He leaned in and pressed his lips against mine. The kiss was gentle but full of love-- A sensation I had not been able to feel for about a year.

He slowly released from the kiss, a smile across his face when we parted. With his hand still interlocked with mine, he lifted his arm up and kissed the back of my hand. "You know, when I went back to the future," He said, rubbing my arm, "all I thought about was the life I could have with you, and now I think we can have that."

I smiled at the thought, him and me together. "Wait, what about Brainy's distant cousin, the evil one? What about the future?" A sudden wave of worry rushed over me. Would he not be able to stay?

"We actually got rid of him a few weeks ago. I've been considering coming back for a while, but now I'm here, and I'm not leaving you ever again." He told me.

I gave him a beaming smile. "I don't know if I've said this yet, but I've really missed you."

"Me too."

the next morning

I don't remember when I fell asleep, but when I woke, Mon-el was still at my bedside, his head resting on the space left on the bed next to my hip, still sleeping. My hand was still in his and he still gripped on mine tightly, as if scared of letting me go. The sunlight that streamed in from the large DEO glass window into the med-bay caught the tips of his deep brown hair. It still seemed unreal that he was finally with me.

I tried sitting up, hoping that my powers would've healed me by now, but a sharp pain filled my abdomen, causing me to wince and fall back down on the bed.

Mon-el jolted up and the sound. "What is it? What happened? Are you okay?"

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. I just tried to sit up." I told him, shifting in my bed trying to ease the pain. "Alex said I would be okay by now, I don't know what's wrong."

"I heard my name, what's up?" Alex said as she walked up the stairs and into the med-bay.

"Kara can't sit up like you said she could yesterday," Mon-el responded.

"That's weird," Alex said putting gloves on, prepping the ultrasound. "Based on how you've healed in the past, I was sure that you'd at least be able to move around today."

She squeezed some ultrasound jelly on her fingers, lifted up my shirt and placed it on my stomach. Alex turned on the machine and took the ultrasound camera, rubbing it on my stomach. Some of my organs appeared on the screen.

"Huh," I heard Alex say as she examined the ultrasound.

"What is it?" I asked.

"The stab wound is still extremely prominent in your liver and diaphragm. I stitched it up, but the tissue hasn't fused together yet." She paused.

"What else?" I asked. "Alex, that look on your face. I know there's something else."

She looked at me, worried, and back to the monitor. "This is what a human looks like after the same surgery. So far, you are recovering like a human, not Kryptonian."

"What does that mean?" Mon-el asked.

"The serum may have given Kara her life, but I think her powers are still gone."
