Broken Arrow (Zuko X Reader)

Chapter 5

It had been a few days since the gang had visited the city of Omishu, and Y/N heard about every little detail from Sokka while they were collecting food for the others. Really Sokka had just missed some alone time with Y/N and became worried about her ever since he found out about her being the Avatars sister.

"So.. King Boomi.. was Aang's friend he was telling us about?" Y/N asked as Sokka stuffed some nuts into the bag.

"Yeah! Mad as ever too!"

Y/N laughed as she walked with Sokka back to camp and sat down next to Katara

"Oh Great! your back! Whatcha got?"

Sokka sat down and placed the bag of nuts in front of him as he started naming the types of nuts he had. Y/N chucked as Katara questioned Sokka's choice in dinner and even looked back at Y/N for support, but Y/N just gave Katara a sympathetic look as well as a shrug. While the four discussed what to do for dinner, Momo tried to bash into what he thought was a nut, only to realise it was, in fact, a rock, due to the strangely loud noise it made when Momo tried to break into it.

The group's conversation about what to do for dinner was soon interrupted by a loud quaking noise which caused everyone to jump, even Y/N ended up that little bit closer to Sokka. Everyone waited a few moments to see if it would happen again, which of course it did. "What is that!?"

"It sounded like it was coming from over there!" Aang pointed in the direction of where the noise was coming from and stood up to investigate. "Shouldn't we be going away from the loud booming noise?"

"But then we would never know what it is Sokka" Y/N looked at Sokka with a smirk as she followed Katara and Aang.

When Y/N and Sokka finally caught up they saw both Aang and Katara hiding behind a tree trunk. "He's an earthbender!" Katara half whispered. The four watched the male as they tried to decide if they should talk to him or not, although Katara had other plans and tried to talk to him anyway, only to have him run off.

"You must have scared him off" Y/N smiled at her friend as she walked over to Katara

"I only wanted to say hello.."

"Hey. He could be running to a village! And Villages have markets" Aang slyly pointed out as he tried to change the subject

"Which means no nuts for dinner!"

Eventually, the four arrived at the village and began looking around the marketplace for some food. Katara looked around for a food stall, only to find the boy who had run away before walking into a building. Y/N heard the gasp and footsteps of Katara and so she turned her gaze only to find her running into what she thought was a shop. Y/N shrugged and decided to follow Katara to see what she had seen that caught her interest.

Sokka and Aang, however, were too busy to notice katara's quick dash but Aang soon noticed that his sister was no longer around and decided to look around. "Hey your that kid"

Aang stopped in his tracks once he heard Katara's voice and entered the shop where the familiar voice was heard, and saw both Katara and Y/N were talking to the boy from before. 

Sokka walked over to Y/N as Aang decided to join in the conversation. "Mum they're crazy! I mean look at the way they're dressed!" Y/N raised an eyebrow while everyone inspected their clothes, the boy did have a point, they were dressed in their water tribe and air nomad clothes but were in an earth village. Things like that tend to stand out.

While everyone was discussing earth bending and how dangerous it was Y/N heard a knock at the door and took a peek through the window. Y/N only took a small glance but was soon shocked by what she saw. Sokka noticed the expression on Y/N's face and became worried "Y/N.. what is it?"

"Fire nation.."

"Everyone act natural!"

The four watched as Haru's mother dealt with the fire nation guards, and mentally sighed when they left. Y/N and Aang watched as Sokka and Katara asked about how long the Fire Nation had been here and why Haru should earth bend, but only concluded how dangerous it was.

Nightfall soon came and Haru led the gang to the family barn and explained that they could stay the night there. Everyone thanked him. Y/N watched as Katara walked away with Haru, probably to finish the conversation they were having earlier.

The next morning everyone began packing away their things while Katara gathered some water. Sokka began suggesting the best route to the North Pole but was interrupted when Katara came into the barn.

"They took him! They took Haru away"

Y/N looked up at Katara with wide eyes as she walked over to her friend. "Calm down, what happened?"

Katara explained what happened to Haru as well as coming up with a plan to help him. Everyone agreed to help out to rescue Haru.

While Sokka and Katara put everything in place Y/N went through the plan with Aang.

"Here they come!"

"Get in your places"

Katara and Sokka got ready to play out the scene while Y/N and Aang hid behind the rock and watched the plan unfold.

"Earth bending Style!"

Y/N nudged Aang slightly as Katara gave him the signal only to have him tap her hand away as he played with the butterfly "I said EARTH BENDING STYLE!" Aang jumped up as Katara shouted and sent a gust of wind through the air vents to make the rock levitate. Now all Katara had to do was get arrested.

Aang, Sokka and Y/N followed Katara to the prison and from there waited till nightfall so they could get both her and Haru out safely. Once Nightfall came, Aang rushed to find Katara while Sokka and Y/N stayed with Appa.

"You think she'll be okay?"

"I'm sure she's fine Sokka, Katara can hold her own."

Soon Aang and Katara came back, everyone knew it was time to go but Y/N could see by the look in Katara's eye that she wasn't coming. Once everyone agreed to stay to help the earthbenders they looked for somewhere to hide and came up with a plan.

Sokka explained the plan and how Aang would air-bend the coal through the vent, only to be interrupted by the warden. Y/N and Sokka got into their stance of defence as Aang air bent the coal out of the vent. Katara smiled brightly and tried to encourage the earth benders to fight for their freedom, but it seemed the earth benders had lost hope long ago.

Just as the warden began to walk away Haru decided enough was enough. He was the first to make a stand against the Fire Nation, and he knew he wouldn't be the last. Soon the Fire Nation was overthrown and the Earth benders had become free once again.

Zuko POV

I had heard the word that the Avatar had been spotted at an earth kingdom prison so I had to go. I had to capture him. His sister I had to. 

When I arrived at the Prison there was nothing, but something. Something shiny caught my eye. As I walked closer I realised it was that water benders necklace.

Now I have something that they are going to be looking for. All I need to do now is find a way to track them.
