Broken Arrow (Zuko X Reader)

Chapter 8

The group had been travelling all day without stopping and Aang was more of a nervous wreck when he was before since he left the fire temple. Sokka had offered to take the reins while the others attempted to get some rest. Y/N patted the space between herself and Katara signalling Aang to take a seat.
"Calm down, It's going to be fine, I can teach you if you like" Katara suggested with a smile as Aang sat down beside her. Y/N smiled as she made her way over to the edge of the saddle next to Sokka.
"Hey, could you do me a favour?"
"Hey! Sure what's up?"
"Next stop. Make it next to water, Aang needs to train" Y/N spoke as she looked back at her younger brother
"No Problem!"

After a few hours had passed the four had reached a small lake by a waterfall, and it was safe to say that both Katara and Aang were more than satisfied with their destination. Appa wasted no time to jump in, creating a large wave once he did, Y/N couldn't help but laugh as she gathered a heap of dirty laundry that she needed to clean.
"Alright, we can take the lessons in turns if you like, I don't mind, but I do want to get this done while we're here" Y/N smiled as she spoke to Katara.
"Of course! I would be honoured to train Aang!"
"Great. So what can I do?" Sokka asked, feeling slightly out of place.
"You can clean the gunk out of Appa's toes!"
"So, you get to play in the water, and I clean Appa's gunk?"
"Gunk and bugs"
"... Okay"

Y/N smiled as she made her way to the riverside and began cleaning the clothes. She would often look up to check on Aang's training, although her eyes would soon wonder to Sokka and a smile would make its way to her lips as she watched him talking to Appa. It was these moments Y/N loved the most, there was no one chasing them, no one telling them what to do, and everyone seemed more relaxed than usual.

Zuko:

I was just starting to get warmed up to begin training when the ship started to turn suddenly. I mean, why? I didn't give that order! People just think they can do whatever they want around here don't they.. And for what? Because I'm too young? Or because they look at me as the banished prince.

I tried to balance myself against the sudden turn but soon found myself against the railing of the ship. Once the ship was steady again I made my way to the helm.
"What's the meaning of this mutiny? No one told you to change course"
"Actually I did, and I assure you it is extremely urgent prince Zuko"
"Is it about Y/N?!.. A-and the avatar?" I mentally cursed myself for stuttering as I looked away embarrassed
"No.. I am afraid I have lost my lotus tile.."
"Lotus tile?" I looked at my uncle confused
"Yes... It is very important for the game"
"You.. changed our course?... For a stupid lotus tile?"
"Just give me 10 minutes to look into the market, they should have it in stock and I can move on with my life.

I looked at my uncle before looking away. Did he change course for a game? When that time could be spent making sure Y/N is safe... Well away from Zhao. I took a deep breath before releasing a breath of fire and smoke in frustration.

  Normal POV:

"Look... We've all had a long day, so why don't we just call it a night hmm? Start again in the morning" Y/N spoke as she tried to calm everyone down. It had been a hard few hours with running away from the pirates and witnessing Katara's melt-down, which only got everyone else more rallied up.
"Y/N is right, I've already set up camp, and I'll get a fire going" Sokka spoke up as he made his way next to Y/N. Once everyone had calmed down and finished with their meal that Y/N cooked, they all said their goodnight's and made their way to where they would be sleeping.

Y/N had woke up to the sound of Katara's frustrated cries, that girl just didn't give up. Y/N shook her had, and made her way to Katara to offer some comfort.
"You almost had it that time" Y/N spoke up as she leant against the tree beside her
"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to wake you"
"Don't worry about it, come on. let me-" The two girls froze as they heard a ship hit the shore.
"Katara go. I'll deal with this."
"But Y/N-"
"Go!"
