It had been a few days since the storm hit the ship, as well as the kiss between Zuko and Y/N. Neither one of them spoke about it, although their behaviours towards one another had changed. Y/N was still her quiet self and Zuko was still his hot-headed self. That was until they were alone together.

Zuko would often have dinner in his room more so that he could keep Y/N company, and Y/N would often read to him while he would meditate. Those would always be the thing that they did together. Zuko would never admit it, but he was beginning to enjoy having Y/N on the ship with him. Even the crew could see the difference she made to his personality. He was slightly calmer, and more understanding, though he still had a long way to go.

However, Y/N had also noticed that Zuko was beginning to sneak out during the night. Though she had yet to discover where he was going and what he was doing. She always tried to stay up for him coming back, although she would often fall asleep before he did.

Zuko's POV

I was in the control room of the ship, talking to the lieutenant about possible Avatar sightings. I would often glance over to Y/N as she sat by my uncle, reading her book.
"We haven't been able to pick up the trail since the storm, but if we continue to travel north east-." I turned from the Lieutenant as a large shadow started to pass us. "what do they want." I let out a sigh as I watched a fire nation ship anchor next to ours.
"Perhaps a sporting game of Pai Sho" Iroh suggested as he tried to lighten the mood. I shook my head and looked over to Y/N only to find her already looking at me with a worried expression.

I quickly gestured for her to come over, and I protectively wrapped my arm around her waist, keeping my body in front of her slightly. I couldn't help but blush when I felt her cheek brush against my neck. "Zuko we need to hide her-"
"There's no time, they will see her uncle."
"Lieutenant, I give me that cloth, we could at least try and cover her face a bit"

Y/N quietly thanked the Lieutenant as she put the cloth around her head and neck, trying to cover her face. "Stay behind me Y/N, I won't let them hurt you" I spoke just loud enough for her to hear and I stood in front of her once more, covering her from our visitor's view as they walked in.

"The hunt for the Avatar and his sister have been given prime importance by Admiral Zhao and all information regarding them must be reported to him. " One of the men spoke as he held out a poster of the Avatar. I heard a small gasp from Y/N as he spoke, I tried to remain calm as I crossed my arms over my chest, attempting to make myself look bigger than I was.
"Zhao has been promoted, well good for him" Iroh spoke as he moved one of the tiles in his game.
"I have nothing to report to Zhao now get off my ship, and let us pass" I couldn't help but let my anger slip through as I spoke.
"Zhao is not letting ships in or out of this area"
"Off my ship!" I pointed to the door as I shouted with a frown.

I looked out of the window as Uncle went back to his game. I was beginning to lose myself in thought until I felt a hand wrap around my arm and a head softly land on my shoulder. "Thank you, Sparky" I slowly put my hand on top of hers with a smile.

I watched as the ship started to leave, and I couldn't help but let my thoughts start to run. 'Zhao is going to get the Avatar first, and then he will come for her'. 'You need the Avatar to return home.' 'Now you only need to capture the Avatar, you've already caught his sister'. 'Once you have them both, all you have to do is-- '

"I'm going outside for some air." I removed myself from Y/N's hold and started to make my way onto the deck. "Want me to-"
"No!... No, I want to be alone" I didn't bother looking at her, I could already see the hurt expression on her face in my mind. I let out a sigh as I began to make my way outside.
