Chapter Six

 Chapter Six: Go Fish

"This sucks." Dex says while flicking a stick at the bushes.

Ro just grunts in response, but otherwise doesn’t respond. He is still pretty mad for getting into this situation in the first place. So she wasn’t going to get any pity from him.

Undeterred by his silence, Dex soldiers on. "Well if it make you feel better, Baldy Barrow gave me detention as well as sticking me with the stupid play the drama kids are doing. Which sucks because I have to deal with Ms. Whalen as well as them. I don't know which hates me more!"

Despite himself, Ro's lips twitch up at the sight of Dex's pout. She just looked so cute when she rants. "I'm the one stuck with the coach. The football team calls him Scary Gary."

Dex smiles back. "At least the football team likes you, I'm pretty sure the whole drama class is out to get me."

"Well you did spray paint their set a day before the opening last year."

Dex waves her hand as if saying the point is moot. "There set looked better with it."

"I don't think they agreed."

Dex lips twitch at the memory. "Yeah you’re probably right."

"Probably. I'm always right." Ro states arrogantly.

Dex scoffs. "How modest of you."

"How kind of you to say." Ro carries on as if not noticing her sarcasm. "Do you need a ride home?"

Dex grabs a pair of keys from her pocket. "I don’t know. I found these keys earlier and I want to put these in use."

Ro's eyes widen as he searches his pockets, "Hey! Those are mine!" He tries to grab them out of her, but she takes off running towards his car.

Dex looks over her shoulder teasingly as she shouts out, "Finders keeper!" Ro chases after her.

"You cheated!" Dex accuses Ro.

Ro raises an eyebrow at her over his cards. "How did I, pray tell, cheat?"

"You’re using your voodoo mind tricks on me."

Ro keeps his face stoic as he replies, "It’s called a Poker face, princess."

Dex glares at him as she calls out. "Do you have any threes?"

"No, I don't."

"You liar!" she accuses. 

Ro narrows his eyes. "Dex, I don’t have any threes."

"Yes, you do."
