Chapter Twenty: A Black Bumblebee

"Sha la la la. You are so fine. Dont kiss that girl, kiss me!"

Ro groans sleepily at the loud noise and he is about to fall asleep again, when he registers who is in his living room. Dex?

"Boo! Man up and kiss her! Underwater kisses are fine, too!"

He sits up and his eyes widen when he remembers the event from last night. Or was it early morning? Ro shakes his head. Not important.

Ro jumps out of bed and comes to the living room. He stops when he sees Dex. She has a bowl of popcorn and she is watching Ariel. Her hair is in a messy bun and she is wearing his Pikachu hoodie that was thrice the size of her, so the sleeves were rolled up and the bottom came to almost her knees.

She has never looked so beautiful.

"Ro?"

Ro blinks and he realizes Dex had caught him staring. He averts his eyes with a cough. How long had he been staring at her?

"Good morning, Dex. Want some eggs." He escapes to the kitchen, so he doesn’t have to look at her. Where is a rock to hide under when you need one?

"Yeah, you can just cook it on your red cheeks." She is teasing him. Subconsciously, he brings a hand to his cheek. Why is it so hot in here?

"Just watch your movie." Ro mumbles and he could hear Dex giggle. He smiles to himself. He has always liked her laugh.

Ro just makes the simplelest egg dish that he knew he couldn’t mess up; scrambled eggs.

Ten minutes later he has scrambled eggs with a side of buttered toast. It was a miracle that it actually looked somewhat edible. "Breakfast is served! Come and eat!"

Dex calls back instantly, "Not yet. I have to wait for Ursula to go back to the darkest depth in which she came from!" She follows that with an evil laugh that sounded like it came from a witch.

Ro rolls his eyes. She already knew how it was going to end, so why bother rewatching it?

He picks up the plates and brings it to the living room, which was just a couch, shelf, and a tv. He gives a plate to Dex and he sits on the floor with his plate on the coffee table as he watches the ending of Ariel.

When the movies end, he decided to question Dex. "Dex?"

Dex looks up from the crust she is nibbling on. "Yes?"

"Do you want to talk about last night?"

Dex stiffens and narrows her eyes. "Dont push me, Ro. I’m not ready to talk about it."

Ro stares at her for a moment, before nodding. He has just got a semblance of his best friend back, he wasnt going to do anything to make her want to avoid him again. He has been patient, they can talk later. "Okay. Then can you talk about what happened at the school."

Dex purses her lips, like she is contemplating what to tell him. "What do you know?" she asks.

Ro feels relief that she is willing to open up. "Kit said a teacher found you having a panic attack in the bathroom. What happened? Was it because of Phillip?" He says that name with particular harshness. He still hasn’t forgiven him for causing Dex to cry and to be honest, he didnt like him cozying up to Dex.

"Who?" Dex asks in confusion.

"You know...the guy in drama class. The one who...embarrassed you and...answered your door." Ro stumbles on the words. "Black hair...funny haircut..."
