Chapter Nineteen: A Darn Disco Ball

Ro was in the cafeteria studying his textbook while snacking on a bag of potato chips when he hears angry stomping coming towards him. Ro looks up to see Sofia marching towards him and...she looks different.

He frowns. "Sofia? What happened?"

Sofia marches the rest of the way to his table and she takes his bag of chips. He lets her angrily munch on the potato chip as he is still stares at her wide-eyed.

"Sofia?"

"Someone glitter bombed my locker! “she burst out as she angrily waves a chip around in her hand. "I open the door and BAM!" Ro jumps as she slams her hand on the table, effectively crushing the chip under her hand. "I get a mouthful of glitter. When I find out who did this...." Sofia trails off as she absentmindedly smashes her hand down more.

Ro gulps at the look in her eye and he takes the bag out of her hand before she could crush the rest of his snack. He tries keep a straight face, but his lips twitch as he guesses who did this to Sofia. Ro wasnt about to tell Sofia about his suspicions.

Instead he ducks his head down to look at his textbook. "You look nice, though," Ro says to lighten the mood.

Sofia face pinches as she gives Ro an unamused look. "I look like a darn disco ball."

Ro couldn’t keep the snort in for that one.

"Roman!" Sofia smacks his arm. Ro purses his lips at her as he rubs his arm. He probably deserved that one.

"I will have to take like five showers to get rid of all this glitter."

Ro smirks. "I recommend using oil and scotch tape."

Sofia scowls as she takes his bag of chips again, before she stands up. Ro puts his hand up so Sofia can give him his bag again, but she just high fives his hand with a smile. "I am going home. Bye Ro."

"Wait. That's mine!"

Sofia ignores him as she leaves munching on his chips. Ro scowls. He is about to stand up and go after her, when his phone starts to ring.

......................

Dex is at the sink in the girl's washroom at she uses the wet paper towel to wipe off any residual glitter off her fingers.

She smiles as she thinks of Sofia's surprised face when she opens her locker. Priceless. Good thing she recorded the whole thing on video, so she can watch it again. And again. And again.

Dex chuckles quietly to herself.

She dries off her hands and stands in front of the mirror as she rearranges her pony tail and makes sure she didn’t have any glitter on her clothes. But she stops as she catches sight of a face peaking out from the window.

Dex screams as she sees who it is.

.....................

Ro runs to Kit. He manages to spit out the words that were frantically running around in his head between giant gulps of air. He had ran from the cafeteria as soon as he got the call from Kit. "What happened? Why is Dex in the nurse's office?"

Kit shakes his head, which doesn’t relax Ro who is looks distraught. "I don’t know the details. A teacher heard a scream from inside the girls bathroom. She went inside and Dex was freaking out!"

Ro frowns and he looks at the Nurse's office door lost in thought. Freaking out? That doesn’t sound like Dex. Not at all. He recalls her crying at that late hour and her asking Ro for a hug in the janitor's closet. None is that is typical behavior for the loquacious Dex who is always ready to have fun.
