Lemony was sitting on the floor, his face in his resting palm. As he heard footsteps, he opened his eyes to see his little sister walking down the corridor, looking at him skeptically. He had been sitting there for hours. After going to the nurse's office and not finding Kit there, he decided to wait for her infront of her door so she couldn't avoid him.

Lemony knew Kit more than she ever realized. He knew how shy and nonconfornational she could be and that she had the tendency of bottling up her emotions and thoughts. If he didn't choose to confront her, she would simply not talk to him or Beatrice. And while it wouldn't destroy him immediately, she would break. Lemony really didn't want that to happen to his beloved sister.

"Can I come in?", he asked while standing up. She silently nodded as she opened her door. Her small door was full of books, pieces of written-on paper as well as posters and newspaper articles from every play and concert her brothers and Beatrice ever participated in. He hadn't been in here ever since he helped her move in years ago. The posters showed how much she admired the three people closest to her.

Without any small talk Lemony started talking about the reason why he was here.

"I'm so sorry I didn't tell you I like Beatrice in that way. But let me explain: Today was the first time we kissed, I swear. We were tidying up the theatre and stage. I don't really know how it happened, but then we suddenly kissed and you saw.", he said.

Kit was sitting at her desk, listening to her brother. He was unusually nervous, which told her that Lemony was serious about not leaving her in the dark about this matter. She appreciated that a lot.

She didn't wish to be distant with her brother, but they were so different people that it was sometimes hard for them to understand each other.

"Okay.", Kit answered. She knew she shouldn't be angry anymore, but it was difficult.

"So, are you in love with her?", she asked.

Lemony's face turned red, giving her an answer that was far more concrete than him simply looking at the ground.

"And what's with Esme?", Kit asked, starting to feel like his brother's conscience.
He was putting his face into his hands, not answering her and pacing anxiously around the room.

His emotions were overwhelming him, which was something Kit could relate to very much.

"Sit down.", she said calmly, "We will figure this out together. I think we need to get the third Snicket here. He will hopefully know what to do in this situation."
