YANG'S POV

Though my sister wants to be 'cool' and not have me hug her inside school hours, I still do as soon as I see her because she's with someone and embarrassing my sister is my true calling. Ruby roughly pushes me off of her with a pout but it disappears as she introduces me to the new girl Blake.

In homeroom, Blake is quiet and reads a book. I can't help but stare because she's so pretty and that bow on her head suits her well. Blake answers Ruby's questions about the book, her voice is so soft and quiet, and oddly soothing.

"I'm sorry." I apologise when she catches me staring. "I promise I'm not a creep, I don't normally stare."

"Only at girls she likes." Ruby says a little too loudly.

I stare at my little sister in shock, offended deeply by this betrayal while on my other side, Blake is giggling. I slump in my chair, arms folded across my chest with a slightly forced pout on my face.

"I regret nothing." Ruby shrugs with a sly grin.

'I'll get you later' I mouth to the fifteen year old with a glare. Blake watches the silent exchange curiously with her amber coloured eyes. I break my glare just to smile the her to show it's simply sibling rivalry.

"Do you have siblings?" I ask, hoping I'm not intruding too much too quick.

"Ah, no. No I don't." Blake shrugs, closing her book down and placing it carefully on the desk. "There's my best friend, Sun. He's kind of like a brother. He's very protective of me."

"Yang doesn't like me walking to the shop alone." Ruby shrugs half heartedly. "Her and our dad can be protective of me."

"You are young." Blake points out in a kind manner.

"I guess." Ruby gives in.

I smile at Blake, quietly thanking her.
The bell rings loudly to indicate the start of our first class.

"Can I see your timetable? I'll help you find the class." I ask. I wouldn't be surprised if she said no and wants to find it on her on but she passes the slip of paper and I look over it.

"Awesome, we have five classes together! You can follow me."

"Cool." Blake smiles a bit, taking the paper back.

We all leave the class together, Blake becoming confused as to why Ruby is still walking with us to English. I explain to her that Ruby was put up two years because of her grades being good and that was the only way for her to join some a club she's interested in. Ruby may be smart as heck but she's still got her usual childish quirks that make her who she is.

Blake soon realises the choice for Ruby to be put up a couple years was the right decision. When it comes to English and karate, Ruby excells.
Myself, on the other hand, I suck at my studies but I'm not too shabby at drums and a few martial arts. Mine and Ruby's dad has to help me with a lot of my studies.

"I give up on this." I mumble quietly, pushing my notebook away from me, feeling frustrated.

"What's wrong?" Blake asks while Ruby has her head down, getting right into her work.

"Just not good at English, that's all." I tell her. I don't normally tell people about my struggle with English but for some reason, I trust this new girl. "Things float on the page."

"Would you like me to help?" She offers. I nibble on my bottom lip slightly, not sure whether or not to accept the offer.

"Thank you, but no. It'll just take me a little while." I smile tightly, pulling my book back to me. I don't want her thinking I'm stupid. "Thank you for the offer, Blake."

Blake smiles back, going back to her work while I stare at my book until I get annoyed at the examples of what I'm supposed to do. Just as I let out an angry sigh, the hour long class is once again over. The next class is Math, another class I'm horrible at but the teacher is lovely and is always helping me with it.

"You're going to be annoyed at me for this Yang, but I'm going to give you some extra worksheets for home," Mrs Anderson's words make me whine a little. "But you have til the end of term to finish them."

"Okay." I mumble, pushing my long hair out of my face. "Thank you, Mrs Anderson."

"I want to see you succeed, Yang." Mrs Anderson pats my arm lightly and moves on to the next person who needs help.

At morning break, Ruby, Blake, myself and Blake's friend, Sun, all hangout together. Sun is pretty funny, constantly trying to get Blake to laugh but fails most of the time. I do see the small smiles that cross her face though.

I wonder at one point if they're dating, they seem to be but I don't say anything about it. I just met the girl.

"Hey Rubes, when does karate start back up?" I ask my sister, eyeing up the oak tree, thinking about climbing it because why not.

"Tomorrow night, I think. We'll have to ask Dad." Ruby tells me, munching on cookies.

Wait... When did she get cookies?
I shrug it off, she always seems to have cookies even though we have none at home.

Before I can think about climbing the tree a bit more, Sun stands and scrambles up with the help of his tail. Blake doesn't seem surprised about him doing so while Ruby is giggling like an idiot.

"Sun loves to climb, it's the monkey part of him." Blake tells us, not looking up from her book. "Or dumbass part of him. Who knows."

I watch as Sun's tail wraps around a branch and he purposely falls down so he's hanging upside-down, a grin on his face.

"You'd get along with Neptune." I say randomly, thinking of the blue haired guy in my music class. "Do either of you take music?"

"We both do, why?" Sun asks, tilting his head curiously.

"I'll introduce you guys to Neptune then." I grin excitedly, knowing that Sun and Neptune will hit it off. Plus, Neptune is majorly gay, even if he hits on girls. And I'm beginning to believe that Sun might swing both ways, literally.
