Worth Fighting For | Toshinori Yagi x Reader {Drabble}

Exhaustion overwhelmed him. Toshinori's ability to maintain his hero form was dwindling by the day and the more he fought his body to stay in form, the more tired both his body and mind felt. For him, continuing to be a hero was an uphill battle; one that he feared he would lose in the near future.

After barely being able to stay in form long enough to hunt down and apprehend a mere petty thief, he found himself struggling to walk back home. Everything ached and his body screamed at him just to sit down and take a break, but he wouldn't let himself. Dawn was quickly approaching and he wanted to be back home before it did. That was the sole driving motive that allowed him to make it as far as he did every day.

By the time his house was within sight, he was stumbling as he walked, barely having the energy to even carry himself back. His legs burned, his chest ached, yet he still kept going. As much as he wanted to just collapse right then and there, he made himself keep going, knowing what awaited him was the best reward of all.

As he walked through the front door to his dark and silent home, he was relieved to know he made it back just in time. After everything, he made it after all. With only a few more feet left to go, he walked through the house, passing all the rooms until he reached the bedroom. Ever so quietly, he slowly opened the door and slipped inside.

Lying in bed was you, whose sleep had yet to be disturbed by him. Wasting no time, he got in bed with you, careful not to wake you, and wrapped his arm firmly around you, keeping you as close to him as possible.

He only had a little less than an hour before you were to wake up for work, but he didn't care. The little moments like this were what motivated him to come home each day; were what motivated him to keep on fighting despite his condition. As long as he kept fighting villains, you would remain safe in this cruel world.

Now that's something worth fighting for.
