Emily wandered down the hall, A tall brown wooden door stood menacingly in front of her. She looked back down the hall to the main room where Ethan had been sat on his computer.
The thought of Bob in the living room still lingered in her head, the sight of the blood still a vivid red behind her eyes but she knew she needed a change of scene; so, she pulled the door open and strolled down the dark white hallway to another black door. A key pad stood on the side of it, its' numbers lit up on the LED touch screen. She didn't know the code, Mark hadn't told her so she stood there for a moment before turning back to the door in which she had come through; contemplating whether or not to head back. As she made a small movement to turn on her heels, the black door opened ever so slightly pausing Emily in her tracks. Emily took in a deep breath before turning back to the obstacle and pushing it open, her sight momentarily blinded by the computer screen brightness.
As she adjusted, she slowly entered the room and managed to get a good look around. On the far left hand wall beside the door were three long tables, each one of them covered in closed case files; forgotten and laid to rest forever on the metal surface.
The opposite wall was where the source of the light was coming from.
Covering the wall from top to bottom was a series of computer screens, each one of them with a different image on them.
Some had figures running up and down them all in green, something that strongly resembled the matrix, others had an image of Wade's face next to flashing images of what Emily assumed were CCTV footages from across the state trying to find out where he was; maybe good old Uncle Sam had managed to capture her brother.
In front of the computer screens was a woman who quickly turned to face the girl in the door way
"You must be Emily" The woman didn't get up from her chair but her friendly smile was enough to make Emily feel a little more at ease. She was a larger woman with bright eyes and long brown hair; her black rimmed glasses were pushed up to the top of the bridge of her nose.
Emily hesitated for a moment before nodding, standing awkwardly still in the doorway as her eyes perused the screens. "Oh," The woman who Emily assumed to be Kathryn, grabbed a chair from beside her and wheeled it back into Emily's sight. "Grab a chair, I could use the extra pair of eyes." Emily stared at the black chair for a second before slowly walking into the room and sitting next to Kathryn. "So Mark mentioned to me that you had a lot of information on your brother?" Emily nodded, biting the inside of her bottom lip for a moment before speaking.
"Yeah, but it's all back at my apartment, I don't have anything with me here.""Can you remember any of the information?" Emily knew there were things about her brother that no one else knew about, she was his little sister after all but it wasn't anything that would be helpful in finding him.
"Nothing that you don't already know," Emily looked down at her hands in her lap and shook her head. "He was always good at finding new places for us to hide from our parents, he always knew how to get out of a tight spot it was kind of his gift; something I looked up to as a kid. Just..." Emily paused for a moment, looking back up to the screens with Wade's face on it; tears coming to her eyes "Just none of this makes any sense. How did he go missing like how was he here one day and then not the next?" Emily diverted her gaze towards Kathryn who was looking at her in confusion. "What?"
"Mark didn't tell you." It wasn't a question, almost like she was confirming out loud something she'd thought in her head.
"Tell me what?" Emily's mannerisms changed, her emotions going from upset to angry in a split second. What hadn't Mark told her about her brothers' disappearance.
