(Warning for an OOC Armin! I repeat, warning for an OOC Armin!)

3rd POV

Three kids were sitting near the lake in the Shingishina District. They all gazed down at pictures in a book that explains of the 'outside world.' On certain days, they would gather around the same spot near the lake and talk. A boy with golden hair and sapphire eyes would always bring a book that was from his great grandparents and explain everything about it. The other two noticed this shine to his eyes every time he spoke of it.

The 'outside world' has always been a mysterious topic to all citizens, and must not be spoken of. It has always remain to be a cruel and scary place. Not according to Armin.

What seemed to have caught the blond boy's interest is this large body of water that covers most of the world called the ocean, which is said to be filled with pure salt. Both of his friends found it unbelievable to think that something had contain so much salt, but the shine in their friend's eyes says otherwise.

Even now, when he joins the Survey Corps, Armin still kept his interest of the 'outside world.' But now with all the tiresome training, it is rare that he ponders about it anymore. Though he still talks to Eren and Mikasa, it has only been about recent process of training and any upcoming expeditions.

Well, okay. Maybe that isn't all. Eren would often bring up someone in specific.

Someone would indicate this girl that Armin's been eyeing for a while. Mikasa and Eren caught on to this and immediately confronted him about it. He always turns a bright red and stutters every time she is mentioned.

The girl sits diagonal to their table, which meant she sat with Jean, (to Eren's dismay), Sasha, and Connie. Sasha would play around with her h/l h/c hair while Connie sometimes pokes her s/t cheek when she dozes off. Jean, on the other hand, well...

He gets touchy with her.

It was quite obvious that Jean has felt something towards y/n. However, y/n doesn't seem to oppose against his actions. She always remained quiet.

Perhaps that's what it was. Compare to most of the cadets, y/n is the quietest one. No one knows anything about her. Maybe he wanted to find out more about her.

But how can he approach her?

The Cadets were soon signal to head to their dorms for curfew. Eren pats the blonde on the shoulder, distracting him from his thoughts and reminding him to head to the dorm.

Armin really doesn't see any point for him going to his dorm. Although he could relax his sore muscles, his mind doesn't let him. Ever since the fall of Wall Maria, its been impossible for Armin to sleep properly. He'd keep waking up in the middle of the night and wouldn't go to sleep for an hour. He would normally try to go to back to his dorm as soon as he finished dinner just to try and get a few extra minutes of rest.

But today was rather different.

He still remains awake long after he was assign to curfew. He still hasn't fell asleep or even taken a nap. No matter how many times he switches positions in bed, nothing seemed comfortable enough for his body.

A sudden, faint tapping noise was heard from outside the dorm. Who could be awake at this time?

Curiosity took over Armin and he walked over to the door. He quietly opened the door and went out the dorm. I guess I could use some fresh air, he thought as he walks towards the door.

A head turned around as she heard the door opened behind her. A familiar blonde was standing behind her closing the door quietly. She pretended to not notice and looked down at the piece of paper she held. The moonlight was barely showing what was on the paper.

She felt the presence of the blond beside her. Cold sweat ran down her back as her body tensed up.

"Couldn't sleep either, I suppose?" Armin spoke.

E/c orbs turned to the side and met with blue orbs that had a small gleam from the moonlight. She was a little shock to hear the blonde speak, nonetheless with her.

She didn't know when she gave a response to the blond, but she heard a soft chuckle that made her heart flutter. She turned away to face the night sky, forgetting she had the piece of paper visible for the male to glance at.

It wasn't until she heard a gasp from the side that she turned back to face the blond. First thing she noticed was his bright expression. The h/c looked down at the piece of paper. On the piece of paper, there were little waves that likely represents water currents of rivers. There are strange drawn out creatures in the water. One of them is shaped of a star and is sitting on a rock.

"Is that by chance a picture of the ocean?" The blond asks.

The h/c girl froze. Just how did he knew what was the drawing about? She turned to face him and nods.

"It is. How did you know that?" The girl questions.

Armin's eyes seem to have brighten up more. "My grandfather had a book about the outside world. There was a part in the book that mentions it."

"That's amazing! My father/mother only told me stories about it," the girl paused. "To be honest, I didn't believe what they told me. Until I was given this picture." She showed the picture she had in hand and said, "I found the creatures drawn pretty funny because of how strange they seems. But I now really wish I could encounter one of them. Especially this one!" The girl points to an awfully large fish with a long nose, a small hole on the top of its head.

Armin smiled as the girl continued rambling on. He felt rather happy that she had the same interests. He felt happy that she was talking to him, opening up to him.

She.

"Uh, hey, mind if you tell me your name?" Armin questions.

The h/c stopped her rambling and turned to face Armin with widen eyes. Her cheeks with a slight tint of pink. "Oh, I'm y/n y/l/n. Sorry if I didn't mention that earlier. Uh, what's your name?"

Armin thought his insides wouldn't be able to get any warmer as he wondered how much cuter y/n could get. "I'm Armin Arlert."

It went silent for a moment. The two cadets stared at each other, not knowing what to say or who will speak next. Both now had their cheeks slightly red from embarrassment. Armin chose to break the silence.

"Uh, y/n? Have you ever thought of having a companion to travel with?"

Y/n pushed her lips into a straight line before muttering something that Armin barely caught.

"Not until now."

She looked back up at him, e/c orbs staring straight at Armin's bright blue ones. Her cheeks seem to have turn into a darker shade of red as she thought of a way to word her question.

"A-Armin," she whispered, "would you l-like to be m-my companion... and travel by my side?"

She was responded with a peck on the lips before something warm lays on top her hand. Y/n could only smile as Armin looked away shyly. "I would like that, y/n."

I am ashamed of myself. I will trying to post more often now that I'm on spring break. I might have to edit some of these stories too since I am not bother to proofread these at the moment. Just comment down on any error I did and I will do my best to fix this. I didn't want to make this story too long).
