Your POV

Another stressful day of training complete, I thought as I look around for a place to sit. I saw an empty table at a corner. I speed walk over there and quickly sat down. I debated on whether I should go get my plate of dinner. I listen to my mind rather than my stomach and just remained seating.

I watch as the Mess Hall crowded up. Each person grabbing their portions of food and going back to talk to their friends. Seeing everyone communicate with each other, exchanging laughs and smiles, really puts me into deep thought. How are they ignoring the fact that they are a soldier fighting against these beasts called Titans? How are they still happy, even with the recent Titan evasion? So many lives were lost.

I feel sudden sadness as I thought of one's reaction to losing their friend, or anyone close. They don't know when it may be the last day of them seeing each other. They don't know how their last interaction may go before death decides to do it's part. An example could be that couple with that red headed girl with that tall, tan male. Their love didn't survive long. I don't even know what happened to the girl, afterward.

My head pound while my body aches. I rub my temples, trying to relief some of the pain. I looked around and caught eye of blue orbs staring directly back at me. I made eye contact with a certain golden hair male. I shifted my eyes to looking down at my lap.

Armin Arlert.

He's the one with the interest in the 'outside world' to see something, or that's what I overheard. He talks to a brunette name Eren and a girl with a red scarf name Mikasa. I think Armin's favorite part of the 'outside world' is something called the 'sea.' It seems pointless to me that the two want to continue fighting and make it there. The titans aren't going to stop, and mostly likely won't ever until they go extinct.

I let out a sigh before getting up from my seat and exiting out of the Mess Hall.

Armin's POV

I notice a girl sitting alone at a table. She didn't take any plate of food, not even a drink. I may have been staring at her a little too long because she then stared right at me.

I turn my attention back to Eren and Mikasa for a moment before looking back at the h/c (e.x: brunette, blond). She got out of her seat and exits out the double doors of the Mess Hall.

I looked back down at my plate before taking the bread and cup of water. Mikasa looked at me before asking, "what are you doing?"

"I'm going to talk to someone," I replied. "I'll be back."

A few moments later...

I walked out of the Mess Hall and scan the area for the girl. I walk around the barracks until I decide to go to the soldier's office. As I enter, I quickly spotted the same girl that was alone. Her head was down as she sat down at the table. I settle the things down on the table and then tapped her shoulder. She glanced over at me before jumping. Her eyes widen from shock.

"H-Hey, I saw that you didn't eat or drink anything, so I bought you this," I gesture my hand towards the table.

She looks in front of her and notices the bread and water. She looks at me before shaking her head. "Aren't you hungry?" She looks back down at her lap, "you didn't have to do this. Besides, I wasn't hungry, anyway."

I shook my head. "You have to eat something. You look very thin and your face is pale!" I broke off a piece of bread and held it in front of her. "Please, I don't want you to starve."

"What's the point!" She snap all of a sudden, making me flinch. There was a moment of silence before she continue speaking. "Why, WHY? WHY AM I STILL LIVING! There's no point at all. All I am doing is making this pain last longer!  I rather starve than continue living in this hell! I should have died along with them, so that I could have been free from this..THIS!" The girl's breathing hitched to a stop. I saw her eyes starting to water.

I place the bread down and rub my hand on her shoulder. Tears streamed down her cheeks as her sobs became audible. "Why," I heard a voice mutter.

I look at her, bending my head to have a look at her expression.

"Why am I crying now? They died ages ago. I should have been over it by now." She sobs before roughly wiping her tears away with her fists.

"If you don't mind, may I ask who are you speaking of," I ask hesitantly.

She glance at me before turning her body a bit in my direction. "My aunt, my mother," she sniffed. "They died during the Fall of Wall Maria. My mother was crushed right in front of me by the fallen building. My aunt got eaten in front of my eyes."

I nod, taking in all the information she had told me.

"My uncle was suppose to take me in, but he just abuse me the one day I get to ever see him. Then he abandon me."

That explains a lot, I thought. Poor girl doesn't deserve that abuse.

"A friend of my mom took me in. I told her that I wanted to fight to avenge my mom and aunt. She didn't want me to risk my life and put it in danger. But I told her that this is what I really want to do." I saw a tear sliding down from her eye. I gently wiped it away, while putting her hair behind her ear. "Her daughter also joined the 104th Cadet Corps with me. We were great friends, until that unexpected titan attack. She..." Her sobs gotten louder than before. I rubbed circles on her back to try and soothe her. The h/c leans towards me and put her head on my shoulder. "She risked her life for me," she finished. "After a few days after, I found out that her mother was killed."

I couldn't think of any words to say. She has been though a lot before she became a soldier. Even after she graduated, she still experience through these things. I watch as the h/c shuts her eyes and uses an arm to dry up her new tears.

After a few moments of silence, I decided to speak up. "Um..sorry for the timing of asking this, but, what's your name?"

She looked up at me. Her e/c eyes were glossy and red. She licked her lips before responding. "Y/n. My name is Y/n."

"Y/n, can we be friends?"
