Dallon's POV

Ryan cried all the way back to the castle. I knew I shouldn't have let him go. Whatever happened had clearly upset him and it broke my heart to see him so sad over something I could've prevented.

Once we got back to the castle, I took Ryan to our room. He fell asleep on the way here and I honestly don't blame him. I left to see if I could find Josh so I could ask what happened yet my parents called me into the meeting room before I could find him.

"Mother? Father? What's wrong?" I asked once I saw the grim expression they both wore. "Dallon we are currently arranging the guest list for the wedding but we just realised that Ryan has to have a blood relative walk him down the isle." explained my mother, nodding at my father to continue. "I had someone look into Ryan's family and he has no living family members apart from his father left. So you have to make a choice. Either you break the century old tradition or you let Ryan go." he told me sadly.

I stood there in utter shock. I had always looked forward to continuing the tradition upheld by my family but I guess I'm just weird. Although what really bothered me was that Ryan had no family members that would care about his marriage. That would care that there only son has a chance at being happy. "I'll break the tradition." I said finally. "There's no way I'm letting Ryan go back to that monster he has to call his father"

My parents both nodded and dismissed me. I walked back up to our room to see if Ryan had woken up. Sure enough he was awake but I didn't like the fact that he was twirling a razor between his fingers, blood slowly dripping down them.

I ran forward and took the razor from him. "Would you care Dallon?" he asked simply. "Would I care about what?" I asked, genuinely confused. He looked at me with broken eyes. "Would you care if I took that razor and ended it all? If I cut so deep that there was no chance of me surviving?" he said quietly. I took his face in my hands, a few stray tears falling down my face.

"Ryan, please don't ever say that again. Please. I would care. I would care so much that I would try to join you." I whispered softly. I felt him nod as I embraced his skinny figure. We laid down next to each other in a peaceful silence. "I love you Ryan. More than I can ever scream..."
