Second Chance

3 months later...

Today was my last day of court and I won. Of course the courts are gonna check up. Annoying asses. I take the little girl I ended up naming her Melania. Jasmine been depressed sense the hospital. She never comes out she just stays in her apartment. The first place I want to take Melania is Jasmines.

I pulled up to Jasmines apartment and grabbed Lani (Melania). I knocked on her door and she didn't answer. Ugh. I started banging and banging. Still no answer I look at the baby and then at the door. I put her down and take my gun out and shoot the lock. I grab Lani and go inside. I finally find Jas in bed staring at the wall. Ew it smells like shit in this apartment. I put Lani on the bed and sit next to Jas. "Hey I got you something." She stays silent. "I hate kids Jasmine. But I'd do anything to make you happy. I promised it was gonna okay and it will." She started crying, "It's not okay my mom died I'm officially alone Chase I have no one. Everything bad is happening in my life. And my sister is all alone too." I grab Lani and put her in front of Jas. "I ghosted you for three months trying to get custody of her. I won." Jas gets this big smile on her face and grabs her and starts kissing her. I wish I was the one getting kissed on. Let me stop. "Oh my god you got her. Thank you thank you Chase. Oh my gosh. I freaking love you." She kissed m cheek. I cleared my throat. "Okay but Jas, I don't know how to take care of a baby. I have to keep her until the visits from the state stop then you can take her. I don't want kids." She shook her head and said, "Chase I can't take care of her I barely get by as it is." I sighed and told her I'd help her financial but not physically. Does this make me a dick. No. I don't think so.

1 year later...

Jas POV

Lani is growing so fast. Ugh I can't stand it. I've been doing everything myself Chase helps financially. I couldn't be anymore thankful. She's the greatest. My phone starts ringing...

Me: Hello

???: Um Hey don't hang up please. I just need to talk.

Me: Who the hell is this?

???: Roxie.

Me: What could you possibly want Roxie?

Roxie: Can you meet me so we could talk it could be public just text me where ever.

I hung up the phone. I don't know if I should meet her. She caused hell in my life. Even though I know I'm probably gonna regret it everyone deserves a second chance.

I get Lani dressed and fed and drop her off at daycare. She's not coming with me to meet up with her. I pull up to the diner and see her sitting there. God I should've stayed home. I walk in and sit in front of her. "I already ordered you a water." I nodded , "Why am I here Roxie?" She smiles sheepishly. "Well I just wanted to apologize for how I treated you. The things I did and put you through were unspeakable and I hate myself everyday for it." I look her up and down. "I hate you for it too." I grab my keys and walk out. She thought I was gonna except her half as apology.

I go to work. I work in a cafe not to far from my apartment. I had to close tonight. The day went by smoothly until someone came in two minutes before closing like what the fuck my guy.

"How may help you?"

They person starts laughing.

"If I can't have you no one can."

I feel the most god awful pain. I can't hear shit. My ears are ringing. Alls I can think about is Lani. I look up and they take off their hood. The last thing I saw was her. Roxie.
